BY TIMOTHY RAMSEY
THE CHRONICLE
Goler Metropolitan is
celebrating its 75th

Instead of just having a
one-day celebration, the
anniversary committee
decided to have an all-year
celebration, where they
honor the church each
month of the year.
On Sunday, April 29,
the church held its wreath
laying ceremony commem
orating the Rev. Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr.'s historic
visit to the church on April
13, 1964. There were sev
eral members of the con

God’s Disciplinary Love
Lesson Scripture:
Jonah 1:7-17
By the end of this
lesson, we will
♦Understand that our
sinfulness and disobedi
ence will lead to God’s
discipline of us.
♦Realize that God
disciplines us because He
loves us as His children.
♦Know to accept any
discipline from the Lord
as an evidence of His
love for us.
Background: The
time is 780 B.C. and the place is Joppa, or more accurate
ly on route to Tarshish in the open waters. Jonah was
commissioned by God, didn’t agree with God, was dis
obedient to God and he angered God. All because of his
bate for the Assyrians.
Lesson: Casting lots
... why? The crew has
already prayed to their
gods with no results and
decided to cast lots and
through the lots God
reveals that Jonah is the
cause of the storm that
cannot be calmed or
escaped (verse 7). So
Jonah ... who are you and
what have you done that
would warrant such a dis
turbance of the sea (verse
8)? His response: “I am
an Hebrew; and I fear the
Lord, the God of heaven,
which hath made the sea
and the diy land (verse 9). Jonah also told them that he
was running from God (verse 10). Their question then is
... what does God then require us to do ... to you ... to
save us? (verse 11). Jonah was disobedient, but he was
also honest and he also knew that getting him off the boat
