A10 February 27, 2020 The Chronicle Statement from Sheriff Bobby F. Kimbrough, Jr. SUBMITTED ARTICLE While we recognize it is political season, we at the Forsyth County Sher iff’s Office resent untrue statements and would like to present the facts once again. We encourage you to fact check us. Since taking office, we have not released one - not even one - violent crimi nal back into our commu nity that was requested to be held by ICE. According to an ICE agent, he (Kim brough) has a “phenom enal working relationship” with us. Currently we have a Task Force Officer as signed to work with ICE on violent crimes, human trafficking, and drug re lated crimes. In addition to that, it should be known that For syth County and the city of Winston-Salem is THE safest city/county in the state of North Carolina. It is because of the relation ship and the balancing act between what is right, what is moral, and what is legal, that these relation ships exist. Do not be drawn in by rhetoric and untrue state ments that this js- a sanctu ary city/county, or urban city/county, but let it be known it is the safest city/ county in the state ofNorth Carolina. And it should be known that the District At torney’s office, the ICE of fice, and the Forsyth Coun ty Sheriff’s office work together to balance the concerns, needs and safety issues of this county. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s office will con tinue to serve this com munity without violating anyone’s rights and will do so by doing what is ethi cal, what is moral, what is legal, and what is right. So please do not be moved by politicians using poli- tricks to effect the relation ships that currently exist in THIS county. Respectfully submit ted, Not the urban sheriff, not the sanctuary sher iff, but the Sheriff elected by the people of Forsyth County: Bobby F. Kim brough, Jr. 5 things you need to know about voting in N.C.s primary election Early voting ends Feb. 29!
