BITS. Federal Court is in session in Greensboro. Certain electors of the Sixth Congressional district of Louisi ana, have united in a petition against the seating of General E. J. Patrick, Agent of Immigration for this State has opened a State office in New York City, with Mr. Gaines, at 18 west 4th street. The graded school system was inaugurated in Columbia, S. C, Friday, with such a-turn-out of children as was never hef ore seen in that city. The roll numbered 550 white and 384 colored pupils. A young -and illiterate doctor, on being told that a certain pa tient was convalescent, said: "Why, that is nothing; I can cure convalscencence in three hours." What a country ! On Friday the mercury in Wilmington stood at 80 degrees. It was midsummer heat. In Michigan it was snow ing at the same hour. It was mid-winter cold.-Wilmington Star.
