Forney was riding through the fields his horse in jumping a pair of bars, snagged itself in the side on a rail which penetrated the abdomen. The wounded animal walked a half mile to a neighbor ing farm house, where it dropped dead. Morganton Mouutaineer. . Only four marriage license were issued in this county during, the month of October. . . . We learn that Mr. Trechler, a mill right from Rowan county, was killed last Saturday at the Shoals Mill on the South Yadkin river, in this county, while repairing the same. He was at work under the mill putting down the sills, one of which was proped up with a rock which turned and threw the sill upon his breast, killing him almost instantly. He leaves a wife and children to mourn his untimely death. Mocksville Times. The Masonic Grand Master of this State has caused the publica tion of the following notice "for a special communication of the Grand Lodge:; "A special com munication of : the Grand Lodge of A. F. and A. M., of North Carolina, is hereby called to be held in the hall of St. John's Lodge, No. 3, Newbern, N. C, on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 1883, at 10 o'clock, a. m., for the purpose of laying the corner-stone of the new court house of Craven co."
