PROSPECTUS
OF THE AURORA.
WILMINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA.
"Nu'lius addictus jurare in verba magiitri.
Quo mo cunque rapit tempestas, deferar hospes."
The subscriber designs to commence about the 1st
of Nov. next, in the town of Wilmington, North Caro
lina, the publication of a Semi-weekly Newspaper, to
be called the Aurora.
His aim is to create a paper wsrthy of the growing
fortunes of that enterprising community. The pla i
differs materially from that of any aow published then1 ,
or even in tne state, i irst : It will be mors litera
ry in its character. Secondly : Owing no allegiance
to any party or sect of politicians, its political discus
ions will be impartial and candid.
The subscriber ventures to presume that his polit U
cal opinions are sufficiently know to render any dec
laration of them unnecessary. Having advocated the
election of General Taylor to the Presidency, he i
disposed lo give to his administration afair trial; com
mending when he can, but censuring when he must.
The commercial department of the Aurora will bo
attended to by some gentleman n.ore competent in
that hue than the subscriber.
The Aurora will be printed with a press and types
entirely new, and in the neatest manner. Its sue will
be about that of the Daily New York Herald.
Terms : Four Dollars a year, or two dollars for six
months. Subscriptions will be due one mouth after
the issue of the first number.
Postmasters sending eight subscribers, whose e
ponsibility they will guarantee, willreceive th
ra one year gratis.
All communications should be addressed to the tub-
scriber at Paclolus Post office, Pitt county, North
Carolina, until the first of October next: after that
date at Wilmington.
