Mrs. Martha Mangum, beloved wife of Mr. A. J. Mangum, died at the resi dence of her sou; Mr. J. R. Mangum, in tho early morning of Sunday, May the 18th. 1902. Sue was the mother of seven chil dren, two of whom preceedeol her to the spirit world, and live remain to mourn their loss. When eighteen yeais of age she made a profession of religion and united with Tabb's Creek Baptist Church m Granville eounty, aud remaned a de voted christian i'l fellowship with that church until in response to the call of her Lord she went home. For sixty years she served the Master on earth, and has gone, we believe, to serve Him forever in heaven. May God comfort and bless tho be reaved c-nes. Falkener, Jr., had his fine pointer dog killed one day this week by a laborer on his lot accidentiy throwing a heavy piece of timber on sue dog. We are indebted to that highly ac complished lady and member of tho faculty cf Oxford Seminary, Mrs. S. D. T witty, for an elegant invitation to the commencement exercises of that fa mous school, the Oxford Seminary, on May 20-22, 1302. Unintentionally Mr. T. T. nicks, of Henderson, was not mentioned as a visiting lawyer to our court last week. Mr. Hicks stands ac high in Warren as any lawyer that attends our couits, and we beg pardon for haviug thus seem ingly to not notice him. Mr. Norman H. Johnson left last Tuesday for Burlington, N. C, where he will reside iu the future. Mr. Johnson has formed a copartnership with Mr. J. W. Murray of that town for the practice of corporation law.
