Itodwell, delivered last Monday be fore the joint maeting of the Board of Education and School Committeemen will be published in Tallin The Record next week, afi ordered by the Board of Education. Special attention 19 called to the ad vertisement in this issue of the Fall opening of the Warrenton High School. This is one of the best schools in North Carolina and is a great blessing to Warrenton, Warren County and the whole State. Prof. Graham1 is ft veteran in educational work, and he has an able corps of teachers to help him. The terms of this real first class school are Very reasonable. Let all, who have children to send to school consult Prof. Crab am, and lets see that the W. H. School's best term shall be' this Fall. Good for Miss Josie. We extend congratulations td her and her family. The Warrenton District Conference of the M, E. Church, South, will con vene with the Warrenton M. E Churcli next Weinesday, July 23rd 1902, at 9 o'clock a. m. About twenty five ministerial delegates aud some seventy five lay delegates will be in attendance. The Conference will last through Sun day. The public ia invited to all ses sions of the Conference, which will be twice a day each, morning aud nightt proceeded by devotional services. A large number of visitors ia expected. It is expected that the ministers at tending the Conference will fill the pulpfts of the various churches on Sun day. Judge Walter Clark was nominated for Chief Justice on first ballot by ari over whelming vote. Judge Connor .was nominated as Associate Justice from the East over Judge Brown by a very small vote. Judge Walker, of Char lotte, was nominated as Associated Justice from the West on third bfillot. E. O. Beddingfield was nominated for R. R. Commissioner. Prof. J. Y. Joyner for Supt. Public Instruction. The platform and the particulars are not available for this issue. Meeting of Board of Education. The Board of Education for Warren County met in regular eession in the court house last Monday at 10 o'clock a. m. All members of the . Board present. The annual reports of treasurer J. L. Coleman and Supt. J. R. Rod well wore examined and approved. The treasurer reported some $13,000.00 received dur ing the scholastic year and disbursed about $11,500.00. leaving dn hand $1,467.48 not yet drawn out. The Treasurers accounts and vouchers were examined showing the above bal ance on hand, and bocks' arid accounts neatly kept. At 11 o'clock the Board of Education held a ioiut meeting with the School Committeemen of the county, which meeting wfls addressed by the Supt. of Schools, Prof. John Graham aud Mr. J. A. Damcrou. There was a very Rood turti bitt of the committeemen present. every township in the county was rep resented except Roanoke. It was de cided to have an educational rally in Warrenton m connection with the Con federate Reunion, tho date of which is set by Capfc. Whitej cammauder, of the John White Camp of Confederate Vet erans, and also a member of the Board of Education. Good speakers will be provided and a bountiful diuner, and it is exDected that we will have the largest crowd ever seen in Warrenton. The school house in Dis. No. 2 white, Judkins township was ordered moved to a more central location and thorough ly repaired. A new house was ordered built in district No. 2 colored, Fork township. An Institnte for the colored teachers of Warren was ordered and funds ap portioned to that purpose The com mitteemen of Smitn Creek township were granted pefiilission to move school house in district No. 2 white. The matter of purchasing desks for the public schools was left over till another meeting, the Co. Supt., in the mean time to ascertain the very best prices possible on desks. Ordered that the office of Co. Supt. of Schools be1 p:oyjerly furnished aud sufficient funds for that purpose were allowed. The meeting was a plerieant and profitable one, and no ddubt that good results will follow the joint meeting of the Board and committeemen: WANTED. 100 carpenters. Wages, $2.25 to $2.75 per day.
