Tangles of the Busy Whirl The latest in Trusts seems to be the Coffee Syndicate, Whole sale prices of Santos (lowest grade) coffee is now higher than the high grade coffee of. ten years ago. Still on Feb. 17, 1911, the Coffee Syndicate had in stor age 58,320,000 pounds in Rio Ja- Tax Assessors. Muskegee, Okla. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Scott, of Highland, Kan., are seeking a home in this State with plenty of land. 'They will need it, for although they have been married not quite ten years they are the parents of nineteen children, all boys, and thirteen of them living. Section 16. The Board of Com missioners of each county shall on the first Monday in the month of April, one thou and nine hun dred and eleven, appoint one dis creet freeholder in each town- jship for not less than twelve ! months, who shall be known as the assistant assessor, and who j shall list and assess the real and I nersonal property in said town- work cf remaking our rural life. Section 18: The county assessor shall meeet with tne different townships or assistant assessors appointed for. the county, at the county seat or at such place in the townships of the respective assistants . assessors as he may designate at least one day dur ing the period of ssessment, and a.s early in the assessment period as practicable, and shall conf with and instruct such assistant in the discharge of his duties. Section 20 gives duties of as sistant assessor as to assessing and listing property. The assistatnt assessor shall visit each tax payer in his town ship between the first and thirty first days of May, and shall ob tain from each taxpayer a full. complete and detailed statement of each and every piece and kind of property, real, persona! and mixed, which each taxpayer shall own on the first day of Mav, together with as near as possible the true value in money owned by him or them or which may be under his or " their control as agent, guardian, administrator. or otherwise and which should be listed for taxation. He is hereby authorized and empower ed to administer oaths in all cases necessary to obtain full and correct miormation concerning any taxable real and personal property m his township. In the event that the assistant as sessor has failed to obtain such a statement from any taxpayers before the first day of June, be cause he has been unable to visit all taxpayers in his township, or m case tne assistant assessor could not find such taxpayer, or for any other reason, it shall be the duty of such taxpayers to make a return of such statement of property at the home or office or tne assistant assessor on or before the 15th day of June. And thereafter the said assistant assessor, upon notice published in five public places m his town snip, or given m a newspaper published in his county, ten davs before the time named, may re quire all persons, delinquent in the matter of listing their prop erty or who have failed to list their property for any cause, to appear at the place and times stated in said notice, and list their property. Such notice shall be posted or published on or before the 10th day of June. to show me."
