Tbe patriotic object eought to be promoted, would, of itaclf, furniah an all-powerful appeal. Anal if any other were wanted it would be found in the pretence of the lovely women wbo will have tbe matter in charge. Their good looks nd tmilea, alwaya irrefutable, will be greatly height cued in their charms and attraetiona when their countenances arc lighted up with the fires of patriotism, which iu their hearts are never entirely extinguished, and which are now glowing with an unusual bright nest. Tbea wo think we can assure the patriotic ladiea that they will be exten sively patronised ou the occotion. To doth it would be tn doubt both the pa triotism and the gallantry of our men, and we doubt neither. Club Meeting on Tuesday Night. At a meeting of the Salisbury Seymour and Blair Club, held at the Town Hall on Tueaday night, the 16th intt., the follow ing proceedings were had. On motion, the variou-i clubs of the coun ty were invited to join with us in raising the funds neeersary. Ou motion of Win. II. Bailey, Esq., the following gentlemcu were appointed it com niiUce of arrangements, viz : Saml. Reev es, Jr., W. J. Mills, W. a Coughenour, W. H. Crawford aud Dr. J. W. Hall. On motion the following gentlemeu were appointed a committee of correspon dence for the purpose of inviting speak ers to address the meeting, viz : J. M. MctJorkle, L-jwis Hanes ud John S. Hen derson. n motion the following gentlemen were appointed a committee of reception, to re ceive and furnish accommodations for In vited iruests, via : Dr. J. W. Hall, Kerr ( !raigef Dr. C. A. Henderson,- Lewis I lanes, John U. Verble, Dr. J. J. Sum- ell and J. A. MeConnaughey. The meeting was very targe and en thusiastic and was addressed in able an effective speeches by the President, Maj. James . Kerr, Luke Hlackmer, Esq., and others.
