A SENSATION ROMANCE. Io the month of. February last a young man, who was a clerk in one of the Departments at Washington, inserted a call for lady correspondents in our columns, and shortly afterward among the answers be received was one from New York city that specially attracted h is attention, li was writ ten in a delicate female hand, evidently from a young ; miss oi education and re6nement. 1 Iu the, course of events photographs were exchanged, tp the mutuar satisfaction of the parties in serted, and close upon this a declara tion of love and proposal, which wa also 'accepted, neither of the - parties having as yet seen ; the other. In deed, so far was the aflair car: fed that a day was appointed for a weddiug, and a few days before the appointed time the lover started for New York to meet his expected bride for the first time, The .netting took place as ap pointed, a4 th parties proceeded di rectly to the proper authorities,' by which they were united i holy bands of matrimony,' He now, for the first time learned that his 'new made wife was the daughter of wealthy parents, who were in blissful ignorance of their daughter's conduct, and were laboring i under the happy Impression that she was it ihat time visiting friends in After brief honeymoon of - three days at a hotel on Canal street, the happy bridegroom found! it necessary, by expiration of hi leaye of absence, to reuru to Washington and as a mat ter of course, bad no thought of leav ing bi young wie behind him Af ter a sbuit consult .tiori, the happy couple determined to wsite upon the lady ' parents and inform them oi what had taken place, procure thtir ; forgiveness and blessing, and depart in peace. Never was '''love's young dream" more rudely broken The young bride's mother weut into hys terics; the father raged and btorraed; the iters out-Niobed the famed daughter of Tautalus;nd the brothers, " of whom there are thr.e, proceeded j ; . . : i . - : Ik ' io reeit suioinary vengwure ujjvu uir intniler. makine an attack in force uoon him then avd there. Waver ly Magazine. A Story with a Moral. A1 Con necticut exchange tells the following of a boy, who was sent from Groton, Conn., to New London one day, and returued with the bag ui opened, which he dumped on ;he floor saying: There is your corn, go and sell it, I can'r. " : r " : Sold any ? y 1. No. I've been all over London and nobody said anything concerning green corn. Two or three, fellows aked me what I had in my bag, and I told them it w as none of their business what it was ! , : r 'r ' Tbe boy is not unlike hundreds of merchants, who Will promptly call him a fool for not. telling what had to sell. They are actually doing the same thing on a mncb larger scale than did the-boy, by not advertising their business. ' : ; -: .
