He Is none other than the affable, good natured Richard Shelton "Brother” Monds. . Brother has really come into his ac— GOOD USED CARS - TRUCKS NAYLOR-DICKEY DIAL 2127 Fayetteville Hwy. Dunn own this season and Is counted on for practically all of the catching duties. He began his high school career as a catcher but last sea son was switched to the opposite end of the battery by taking over the mound chores. But this sea son he is'back at his old familiar job and is doing a job that would, be a credit to any team. Although Brother is one of the most outstanding members of the 'baseball team he is best known for his football ability. During the past season, he performed sen sationally at the tackle position. Brother’s offensive and rugged de fensive play brought favorable comment from all of the coaches in this section, with the exception of those whose teams he played against. His fame became so wide spread that he was selected to play in the annual Shrine Bowl game in Charlotte. And how he played f ! Coming from a Small high school and even getting into this game is in itself no little accomplishment but Brother play ed all of the defense and made more tackles than did any other player on the field. Brother laid a body block on one South Caro lina man that caused even the fans to groan. Brother’s football talent has been recognized by all of the Coaches of North and South Carolina. He had about made up his mind to attend Duke University but it appears that Uncle Sam has other plans for him. You can be sure that when he does enter school after graduation this spring he will keep one side of some foot ball team well anchored. * Brother is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Monds. He has two brothers and one sister. Cadet Netters Defeat Camels By 8-1 Score The newly formed Campbell College tennis team, coached by Mr. C. C. Coaeh Troy Godwin’s boys wlfl be out tor their second win over the visitors. They defeated them in a previous game on the White ville home grounds by a score of 7 to 5. The Green wave will be trying for their third win within toe District IV, Class AA conferen**. They will need this ton if thfcy expect to remain in toe race for the conference championship. TU* locale dropped a heart-breaker to Sanford in their last outing. The Sanford club rallied for the win ning runs in toe bottom of toe ninth inning to defeat toe Greenies by a 10-9 score. Coach Godwin’s biggest trouble has been toe fielding of the Greenies. They out-hit the Sanford club 13 to 8 but were still unable to come home with toe win. The boys forming toe team this season are mostly new-comers and Coach Godwin expects them to settle down a little with each game. Perhaps the Greenwave could play better ball if more local fans would turn out for the games. iWith toe coming of warmer weather It is hoped that the attendance at toe home games will be increased.
