IWBWII, JUlix 1991 ERWIN NEWS MRS. MARY MCDONALD honored AT BRIDAL SHOWER ON TUESDAY Mr*. Mary McDonald, bride-elect of August vas entertained at a bri dal stiower on Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Hughie Godwin. The shower was given by the Marjorie Spence Circle of the First Baptist Church of which Mrs. McDonald la a mem ber. The event was held mi the spa cious back lawn of the Godwin home, and when the honoree ar rived she was given a beautiful cor sage of white roses and shown to her place beside a table plied high with lovely gifts. After she had opened her gifts and passed them around for every one to see, a very Interesting game was played, apd a prise awarded to Mrs. Otis House as winner. Later In the evening refresh ments of home-made ice cream and cake were served to the following: Mrs. McDonald, honorse, Mrs. House Mrs. Godwin, Mrs. Thur man Allen. Mrs. Forest Maxwell, Mrs. J. C. The meeting opened with a song by the group and prayer by the Rev. R. M. Phillips, pastor of the church. Mrs. S. J. Clark gave the devotional and following this was the roll cal by the circle Mrs. J. C. Graham gave the treasurer’s report. Willlmenia Price, colored dele gate, sent by the Men’s Fellow ship Club,' to the Fayetteville Con ference, gave a splendid report of the meeting, and Loretha Wright, colored delegate, sent by the Wo men of the Church to the Winston- Salem Conference, gave an interest ing report of this meeting. Follow ing the reports the group sang “I Love To Tell The Story.” The program for the evening, taken from The Christian Patterns pf Life, was under the direction of Mrs. Fulton Godwin and was entitled “The Loom of Time and The Christian.” The program showed the different uses of time and those taking part represented some phases of time. Mrs. Long Harper represented time unused, and Mrs. John Henry Wilson repre sented Time used for God. Follow ing the program Mrs. Godwin dis cussed the different ldnds of time and how it could be best used. The meeting closed with the group singing “Take My Life And Let It Be.” The Rev. Phillips gave the closing benediction. Twenty-two ladies were present for the meeting. The Rev. Phillips and Mr. J. C. Graham were visitors of the group for the evening. IN BENSON Mr. and Mrs. Fulton Godwin and children spent Sunday in Ben son. • Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Whittington and son Phil of Raleigh spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Stacy Whittington.
