WORKED IN DUNN Riley graduated from Skipper Oscar Coffin’s journalism depart ment at the University in Chapel Hill and then began newspaper work in Dunn. After a short wuiie, ue went to Nashville to become editor of The Nashville Graphic for three and a half years. In 1937, he went to the staff of the Raleigh paper. During World War n, he served In the Marine Corps for four years and made an exceptionally fine rec ord. He rase from private to the rank of Captain. Paul Trice, 40-year-okl Negro, was operating a tractor and two of his children were riding on the back of the tractor.' A 1960 Ford operated by Mrs. Thelma Fowler, 41, of Erwin, crashed Into the back of the tractor and struck the man and both the children. Mrs. Fowler told Patrolman Will iam O. Grady and Corporal Will iamson that a light Trice had on his tractor Minded her, causing the the accident. Mrs. Fowler was taken to Good Hope Hospital at Erwin with a fractured skull and lacerations about the head and chest. Trice was brought to the Dunn Hospital with a fractured skull, a fractured shoulder and other head and chest injuries. John Trice, Jr., 13, received a broken left leg and other injuries Agnes Trice, 12, received deep concussions of the leg and lacer ations about the head. The highway patrolmen said that Investigation is still underway. Figures published by the U. S.
