The meet ing was opened with the group sing ing “Sweet Hour of Prayer,” after which the chairman gave a brief discussion of the Lord's Prayer, followed by tile group praying the prayer in unison. Miss Cleva Godwin, Miss Eloisc Connelly, Mrs. Naylor and Mrs. Donald Mclntyre attended the teacher’s meeting in Fayetteville on Tuesday. The Y. P. L. met Thursday even ing at the church. After the pro gram a social was given in honor of Mr. John Charles Livingston, who has been working with them this summer, and for the members who were leaving for college. Home made ice cream and cookies were served. October 12th has been set for the in-gathering at Black’s Chapel Church. The following Sunday ■ J I i £ 1 J * l J S t f , i Miss Shirley Raynor Becomes Bride Os Charles Smith The Dunn, First Presbyterian Church was the scene of a wed ding last night at 8 o'clock when Miss Shirley Raynor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Raynor of Dunn became the bride of Charles Smith of Washington, D. C., son of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Smith of Dunn. The vows were spoken before the Rev. R. R, Gammon, pastor of the church, and the single ring ceremony was used. | The chancel of the church was decorated with a background o f ' Southern smilax and fern. Tall baskets of large white chrysanthe mums were also used. The scene was lighted by candles in seven branched candelabra. Prior to the ceremony a program of nuptial music was played by Mrs. M. M. Jernigan, organist. Miss Car dlyn Westbrook sang ‘’Because" and "I Love You Truly” and as a ben ediction “O Perfect Love.” The bride,* given in marriage by her father, wore an original gown of white candlelight satin and Chantilly lace. The- neckline of the dress, giving a drop shoulder effect was fillid in with lace. The full skirt was gathered jnto a tightly fitted bodice and extended to a cathedral train. They were dressed in identical fashion to the maid of honor and also carried arm bouquets of white chrysanthe mums. Mr. Smith attended his son as best man and ushers were Gene and William Driver, Robert Smith of Dunn and W. H. Whitman of Arlington, Va. Mrs. Raynor chose for her daugh ter’s wedding a gown of dusty rose lace with pink mitts. Her corsage was a lavender orchid.
