Has Fifteenth
B Birthday Party
■ Joseph Walters celebrated his
15th birthday with a party at his
home Saturday evening from 7:30
until 10 o’clock.
When the guests arrived they
were greeted at the door by the
the honoree aind invited into the
living room where they enjoyed
games and dancing. Following this
Joseph opened his gifts.
Later in the evening refresh

DUNN GIRLS HONORED Miss Jennie Ruth Barbour, left,
has been elected vice-president of the freshman class at Meredith
College in Raleigh for the coming year. Also honored was Miss
Patsy Cromartie, who was chosen secretary-treasurer of class
in a recent election. Both girls graduated from Dunn High School
last' spring. Miss Barbour is the daughter of Mrs, Fred Barbour,

afternoon, September 30, at four
o’clock Miss Myrtice McPhail.
daughter of Mrs. L. E. McPhail and
the late Mr. McPhail, and the
Rev. Horace E Jones of Coinjock,
son of A. N. Jones of Buies Creek
and the late Mrs. Jones, were uni- ,
ted in marriage. Dr. J. W. Angel],
pastor of the bride, officiated, using
the double-ring ceremony.
For decorations, floor baskets of I
white gladioli and mums were used, j
and candelabra flanked the altar.;
A music program was presented
by Miss Elizabeth Stillwell, pian-j
ist, and Miss Gladys Strickland,
soprano, both of the Campbell Col
lege faculty. Piano numbers prior
to tl»e ceremony were Debussy’s
“Clair de Lune,” Provost's “Inter
mezzo,” the First Movement from
Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata,”
D’Ardelot’s “Because” and “Even
ing Star” from Wagner's “Tann
hauser.” McDowell's ‘To A Wild
Rose” was played during the cere
mony. Vocal selections were “The
Sweetest Story Ever Told” by Stults
and Malotte’s “The Lord’s Prayer."
Traditional wedding marches were
used.
Miss Lucile Starling of Godwin,
cousin of the bride, was maid of
honor. She wore dusty rose crepe
and carried a nosegay of blue del
phinium and pink carnations tied
with blue streamers. Allen Jones of
Buie’s Creek, brother of the groom,
was best man. Ushers were Har
vey McPhail of Dunn, cousin of
the bride, and Alan Spainhour of
Mamers, nephew of the groom.
The bride was given in marriage
by her brother. Ernest McPhail of
Burlington. She wore a dress of
teal blue with matching hat, and
! carried a white Bible topped with
an orchid.
The bride, a graduate of Camp
bell College, has for several years
been assistant to the college bus
[ iness manager. The groom, a grad
; uate of Campbell and Wake Forest,
with seminary training at Louis
j ville. Ky„ and a year at West
minster Choir School, served a
church in Atlanta before return
ing to Carolina.
