To Church Circle
Mrs. Blake Avery was hostess to
members of circle No. Three of
the rasfaytorian Church at her
home Tuesday evening at 7:30 o’-
clock.
Mrs. Drimas Lsshley presided
over the meeting which was open
ed with prayer by Mrs. Fulton God
win.
Mrs. 8. J. Clark gave a very in
teresting devotional on the 7th
Commandment. Mrs. Clark also
gave the program for the evening
which was entitled “Assembly’s
Budget For Special Courses.”
Following the program the busi
ness period was held and foflow
ing this a social hour during which
time the hostess served ice cream
topped with strawberries, choco
late cake, salted nuts, and coffee.

last Friday night. They had an all

of the girls’ birthdays.

MAGAZINE CAMPAIGN

The Jr. Class of Dunn High !
School is Sponsoring the Curtiss
Publishing Company's annual school
magazine campaign this year. Hie
company has offered generous
commissions and it is hoped that
the class can raise substantial
funds for the Jr.-Sr. banquet.
Meeting Thursday morning with
the Company’s representive Mr. C.
A. Carter, the class set up Us
campaign organization. Group
captains were appointed from each
home room to head their respective
classes in the campaign. Captains
from Miss Wades’ home room are
Margaret Cathey and Sverette
Turlington. Those from Mias Clif
ford’s room are Exum Kirby and
Anne Byerly.
Afive dollar prize has been of
fered for the person who sells the
most subscriptions over the week
end, and a Bulova wrist watch or
a Zenith radio U offered to the
two leading salesmen for the entire
campaign; provided the class
reaches its goal of SI,OOO in sales.
The Jr.' Class mikes a special
appeal to the citizens of Dunn to
support the magazine campaign
this year as they have in the past,
and feels confident of success.

Fifth District and Mrs. Jones of
Rutherfordton, the former Miss Ra
chel Phelps of Lillington, visited
her mother and. other relatives here
this week end. Congressman Jones
is in North Carolina during the
brief congressional recess.
Mrs. Henry De Court has joined
her hiaband, Lieutenant De Court
in Washington, D. C., where he
will begin s new assignment as an
instructor' for the Nary. Lieutenant
De Court was previously with the
Mediterranean fleet. Mrs. De Court,
the former Miss Dorothy Loving,
who spent several months with
her parents, Mr. and Mr*. C. 8.
Loving left on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. James Colop Atkins
and their two children have return
ed to Washington, D. C., after a
week end visit here with Mr. At
kins' mother, Mrs. N. S. Atkina.
Mrs. Mollie Haighwood is repor
ted somewhat Improved after being
ill at her home for the past week.

Va., visiter her mother, Mrs. N. W.
