The inqyest was held at t(ie Dafford Funeral Home. Five witnesses, including wbpi ack, testified to the events that led tp ‘the fatal shooting, Wom ack, himself, told a straight Story, and the rest or the testimony back the coroner’s jury that McNeiil had come tp the house in an intoxicated condition and had fallen against the heater. Womack had pulled him away from the heater before he was badly burn id, but said he was mad because he had fallen. Scenting trouble, Womack said, he had hidden the shotgun owned by McNeill. McNeill finally left the house, but soon came back. On fits return he found the shotgun and stuffed a shell in tfie chamber. McNeill sat on the edge of the bed in the house with the loaded gun, Womack said, and when it looked as though he was about ready to‘fire the weapon at him, Womack “beat him to the draw” and fired four times. McNeill died in the Dunn Hospital. Deputy Sheriff O. R. Pearce, who investigated the shooting, together with Deputy Sheriff B. E.
