E. Vaughn will have as her guests for Christmas Day her children, Mr. and Mrs. W. O. King, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert McDonald, and Miss Dorothy Vaughn, all of Durham. Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Vaughn and Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Ligen of Lillington will join them also. Mrs. Jimmie Hatley will spend Christmas with her husband. Pvt. Hatley at Sheppard Air Base, San Antonio, Texas. Miss Rachel Wea ver, Jack Blanchard and Mr. Blanchard's sister, Mrs. John John son of Chalybeate Springs will accompany her. Mrs. Johnson’s hus band is also stationed at Sheppard Field. Mrs. George Fuller and her daugh ter. Allene Fuller New York City arrived on Wednesday to spend the holidays with Mrs. Fuller's mother, Mrs. J. R. Baggett. Mrs. Fuller is the former Miss Winfred Baggett. Her husband will join the family here later in the week. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dolan of Chapel Hill and Dr. J. W. Baggett of Fayetteville will also be here for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Hannis T. Latham. Jr. and family and the Rev. and Mrs. S. L. Lamm of Boiling Springs are expected to spend part of the Christmas holiday with their father, George O'Quinn and their sister. Miss Lola O'Quinn, at Mainers. Capt. and Mrs. Robert Emig and young daughter, Linda, of Trenton, N. J. will arrive on December 21 to visit Mrs. Ehig’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Ausley. They will come to Lillington from a visit in Chicago, 111. Colonel and Mrs. John R. Hood, Jr. and family of Dayton. O. are expected during the holiday sea son for a visit with Colonel Hood’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hood at Buie’s Creek. Colonel Hood is stationed at Wright Field. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Moore attended the annual Christmas dinner party given on Wednesday night in Ral eigh by Mr. and Mrs. James Bryan at their home honoring officials of the Bryan Rock and Sand Comp any. Miss Francis Louise Atkins re turned to Lillington on Wednesday to spend the Christmas holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Atkins. Miss Atkins is a student at St. Mary’s School and Junior College in Raleigh. Dr. Julia Harris, member of the Jderedith College faculty in Ral eigh, will spend a portion of the Christmas holidays here with Mrs. J. N. Fuquay. Mrs. Harry Neelley and daughter of Greensboro are expected here the latter part of the holidays for a short visit with Mrs. Fuquay. Mrs. Neelley is the former Miss Mary Fuquay. Mrs. Melvin McLean left Wed nesday to spend the holidays with relatives in Harbinger. Her son, Melvin McLean, Jr. who was re cently transferred by the Navy from Sanford, Fla., to Jacksonville, Fla. will Join her there and he also expects to spend some time in Lillington the Utter part of next week. Winners, left to right, are Beverly Norris, 20, Burtrum, Minn.; Grace McCall, IS, Fulton Md.; Bettie Lou Bunn, 11 j Pikeville, N. C., and Janice Richins, 16, Draper, Utah. These girls were selected from 1,000 county winners and 45 state winners to receive na tional awards of S3OO International Harvester scholarships, good at any , accredited agricultural college. Miss McCall has frozen 503 quarts of vegetables, 303 quarts of fruits, 2,863 pounds of meat, 58 pies and cakes, and 66'pounds of dairy foods in five years of Frozen Foods participation. Miss Norris has frozen 6,532 pounds of meats and other foods in seven years and has given 20 Frozen Foods demonstrations. Miss Bunn, in her project, has frozen 1,704 pounds of meat, 414 quarts of vegetables, and 130 quarts of fruits, as well as butter, cakes and breads. MiSs Richins has frozen 2,831 pounds of meat, 55 packages of fruits and vegetables, as well as many baked products. q. Campbell, who remains quite ill here at the home of another daugh ter, Mrs. R. S. Taylor. Mrs. Camp bell was severely injured in an automobile accident the last week of August and after several weeks stay in Concord hospital was moved to Lillington to the Taylor home where her condition has re mained critical. , Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sexton have returned from their wedding trip and are at home at their new resi dence on Eighth Street. Miss Frances Maness of Norfolk, Va., Miss Rebecca Maness of Rox boro, and Miss Edna Earl Maness of Goldsboro and-Miss Irene Maness of Clinton are going, to be in Lill ington for most of the holidays with their mother, Mis. Nfcll Maness. Mrs. McMllllan of Troy, mother of Mrs. Maness, also will be here, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Hood and children, Howard and Glenn, left Thursday for Sandersville, Ga. where they will visit Mrs. Hood's father, R. Prank Veal, and Mr. Hood's parents, Mr. and Mis. Sae rod Hood.
