Tuesday Night
The local Teen Age Club is In
for; quite a treat next Saturday
evening. Jim McMillan of Radio
Station WCKB, who is publicity
chairman for the club, has ar
ranged for Mrs. Ann McLean of
the United Arts Institution in Ra
leigh and her husband to be here
that night to present a special pro
gram.
■the evening’s events will begin
at 7 with a dinner at Johnson’s
Restaurant. Among those who are
to be present for the dinner are
Mayor and Mrs. Ralph Hanna, City
Manager and Mrs. Oliver O. Man
ning, Mr. Empie Hall, the three
officers of the Teen Age Club of
which Lewis Strickland, Jr„ is
president, members of the faculty
who are chaperones fra- the eve
ning’s dance, Mr. and Mrs. McLean,
and Mr. McMillan.
The group will then go to the
Dunn Armory where Mr. and Mrs.
McLean will present their pro
gram. They will prove to the young
people that "dancing is an artistic
endeavor and definitely one of the
more charming social graces.”
The Armory will be specially dec
orated by a committee of teen
agers for the evening, refresh
ments will be served.
Mr. McMillan stated that the lo
cal Teen Age Club is run in an
orderly manner by its officers and
that its members are required to
be on their best behavior at the
weekly dances. In view of this, he
thought that they deserved some
recognition.

married in a ceremony taking place
at the Neils Creek Baptist Church
near Angier last Friday night at
7:30 o’clock.
Rev. G. Scott Turner, pastor of
the church officiated at -the double
ring ceremony.
The bride was given in marriage
by her father. She was attired in
a floor length dress of white bridal
satin with a tight fitted bodice of
Chantilly lace and long fitted
sleeves ending in calla points Her
headress was a cornet from which
a fingertip veil fell. She carried
a white prayer book topped with a
white orchid.

For Stricklahd
Joseph Bryant Strickland, 71,'
Route 1, Dunn, died suddenly at
his home. Sunday morning about
10:30 o’clock. He had been ill only
a few minutes.
He was a native of Sampson Coun
ty, son of the late Joe W. and
Rutha Lockamy Strickland He
was a farmer and a member df the
Spring Branch Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held
Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 from
the Spring Branch Church, con
ducted by the Rev. Richard Smith
and the Rev. J. K. Stafford. Burial
will be In the church cemetery.
The body will lie in state one hour
prior to the services.

Martha Elizabeth Williford Strick

Wedding Anniversary Sunday af
ternoon at their home in Erwin.
Mrs. Norris is the former Florence
Vann.
For the occasion Mrs. Norris wore
a corsage of yellow roses. The
children presented their parents a
tiered Goldkn Anniversary cake.
Refreshments were served to those
present.
The Norris were married on
January 12, 1902 and made their
home in Erwin. They later moved
to Durham and then back to Er-
