“Mrs. Cora Parker gave an in
spiring and uplifting talk, using as
her subject “Fruit of the Spirit-
Faith,” based on Matthew 17:7-13
and Timothy 6:13. Prayer was of
fered by Mrs. H. C. Turlington.
Mrs. I. Y. Lee presented several
items of interest to the group.
Mrs. Turlington announced that
,the book to be studied this year
was "We Americans, North and'
South,” by George P. Howard, and

circle met with Mrs. Frank Spruill
yesterday afternoon at the Spruill
home on W. Carr St.
The Spruill home was beauti
fully arranged with a lovely bou
quet of pink carnations adding a
colorful note to the occasion
Mrs. J. W. Whitehead had charge
of the Bible Study and gave a very
inspiring devotional Mrs. J. O.
Warren, circle chairman presided
bver the business meeting. The
circle members donated money to
go towards the shrub around the
parsonage

Women Meet At
Ebenezer Church
The Women of the Ebenezer
Presbyterian Church met Thursday
night at the home of Mrs. Clyde
Denning. Mrs. Lee Bailey, who is
president, presided over the meet
ing. Mrs. Naomi Hudson gave the
Bible Study. After which Mrs. Stew
art Bailey led in prayer. Mrs. Ray
Langdon. secretary, called the roll,
and read the minutes of the last
meeting.
An interesting and informative
program on “World Missions” was
given by Mrs. Glenard Bailey, Mrs.
Stewart Bailey, Mrs. Alvis Ennis,
and Mrs. Nell Robinson.
Delicious refreshments consisting
of fruit cake topped with whipped
cream, nuts and coffee were served
to the following.

Brenda Young Is
Honored On Her
Ninth Birthday
Brenda Joyce Young, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Claude Young Jr. of
Rt. 3. Dunn, N. C., was honored
with a delightful party by her
mother at Mary Stewart School
Wednesday. January 16 at 1:30
o’clock being the honoree’s ninth
birthday.
Brenda’s guests were her 43 class
mates, all pupils of Mrs. Margret
Nayfar. Mrs. Yodng, assisted by
Mrs. Nayfar served vanilla chiffon
birthday cake and chocolate nut
layer cake, and Ice cream to the 43
boys and girls. Brenda gave her
friends as favors bubble gum and
valentine candy. Everyone had an
enjoyable time especially Brenda
who received some nice gifts.

Buies Creek Club
Holds Meeting With
Two Co-Hostesses
The Buies Creek Home Demon
stration Club held its regular
monthly meeting January 17 at
7:30 o’clock with Mrs. Brady Den
ning and Mrs. Everett Turlington
as Co-hostess. There were 11 mem
bers present.
The meeting was called to order
by thfe president, Mrs. Howell Ste
wart, who presided. The opening
song, "Hail, Club Women Crown
ed Thru Service.” was sung and
then the "Home Demonstration
Club Members Creed” was said.
Reports from the district meet
ing were given by Mrs. Wade Ste
wart, Mrs. Edward Gregory, and
Mrs. Howell Stewart, who attend
this meeting.
The project leaders of this
month gave interesting talks on
each project.
The securing of Pen Pals from
other countries was emphasized at
this meeting. Anyone wanting to
do this should write Mrs. W. R.
Langdon of Coats, N. C-. Rt. ? L
The meeting was turned over to
Miss Vail, who gave an interesting
Demonstration on “Selecting Coats
and Suits." She also told of the
next County CouncU meeting,
March 3. And of two of our club
members who receive perfect at
tendance pins, Mrs. Howely Stewart
and Mrs. Clara F. Wilder,*
“The Collect of Club Women of
America” was said by the members.
Refreshments were served and we
adjourned to meet with Mrs. Kyle
Gregory February 31, 1963.

Miss Jerry Cobb was hostess to
members of the Bid and Bye Club
Monday evening at her home for
an evening of bridge.
During progressions the hostess
served salted nuts and soft drinks

wiches, gherkin pickles, cookies and
toasted nuts were served.
When scores were tallied Mrs.
James Yates received high score
and Miss Kathaleen Barker was
awarded second high prize.

Thank goodness exams are over!
They weren’t too hard but they
could have been easier. I hope
everyone passed!
The armory was filled Saturday
night and everyone had a wonder
ful time. Anne and Jimmie McLean
were really swell. Dancing like I’ve
never seen! They taught us the
Carolina Walk and did an ex
tremely beautiful Fox Trot. Several
of the couples participated in an
apple dance. In this the apple was
put between our foreheads and we
danced until it fell out. Nancy Jer
nlgan and Raymond West won.
Later we had refreshments and
then danced some more. We should
do that more often.
