Phone 2850. 2-7-6 t-c Cuthrell Lectureship To Feature Meeting WILSON The first George F.: Cuthrell Lectureship will highlight 1 the mid-winter meeting of the North Carolina Christian Ministers Association to be held on the campus of Atlantic Christian College in The lectureship, established in the spring of 1951 by the Hood Memorial Christian Church of Dunn, N. C. honors Dr. George F.. Cuthrell. ’ present pastor of the church, for his distinguished career as a minister of the Disciples of Christ for over half a century. In establishing the lectureship, the Hood Memorial Church an nounced that it will make an an nual financial grant to be used in obtaining a distinguished American churchman as lecturer at annual mid-winter sessions of the N. C. Christian Ministers Association. Announcement of the lectureship was made during Atlantic Christ ian College’s spring commencement week in May of 1951 at which time Dr. Cuthrell gave the baccalaureate address. A native of Pamlico County, Dr. Cuthrell has held influential pas torates in Georgia, Texas and North Carolina. He was pastor of the Hillyer Memorial Christian Church of Raleigh from 1924 .to 1930. For three years Dr. Cuthrell ser ved as a member of the Atlantic Christian College board of trustees. C. U. Educated in the public schools of Pamlico County, Dr. Cuthrell at tended / Johnson Bible College, Knoxville, Tenn. and took gradu ate studies at the University of Chicago. He holds the LLD degree from Johnson Bible College and the D.D. degree from Texas Christ ian University. Dr. Cuthrell served as president of the 1961 State Convention of the North Carolina Disciples of Christ which convened in Kinston in Nov ember. Chosen to be the. first Cuthrel] lecturer is Dr. Ofeorge Walker Buckner, Jr. of Indianapolis, Ind. Dr. Buckner will be heard ip a series of lectures on “The CotAlng Great Church’’ on February 12 and 13 at 8 p. m. in Howard Chape! on the ACC campus. These plenary sessions are open to the public: Dr. R. Ray Lindley, president of Atlantic Christian College, will give a series of addresses on the gen eral theme: “The Effectively Func tioning Church.” £otton Ginning Doubles Twice Nearly four times the amount of cotton from the 1951 crop was ginned in Harnett Connty than the amount of the 1950 crop gin ned prior to the same date last year. Comparative figures for the two periods show that prior to Jan. 16 of this year 25,294 bales were ginned. Prior to the same date last year the total ginned was 6,454 bales.
