A Valentine motif was effectively carried out in all decorations. In the living room red and whit glad ioli, carnations, and asters were Ujed. The dining room table, cov ered with a red cloth, was center -04 with an unusual arrangement composed of white candles centered with a red candle and surround ed by white asters and fern. Novel, red oupids were used on the sides of the mirrors in the living and dining rooms. guests were served refresh ments Consisting of lime ice punch, hegrt shaped party sandwiches, chgMt cupcakes centered with red hearts, Valentiilfc candy and heart baskets tilled with can dies. Paring the evening the group en joyed novelty games and in a talent contest Anne Alphin won first place; Ginny Aycock, second place and Helen Butt took third honors. Mrs. James Surles and Mrs.‘C. C. RUSSELL TALKS ON GLASS AT WOMAN'S CLUB MEETING man of the Fine Arts Committee presented an enjdyable program to the Womans Club of Dunn when the club met Tuesday nftenoon at the Dunn High School Library. Mrs. Newsom presented Mrs. Ernest P. Russell who spoke to the goup on “Early American Pressed Glass”. She reminded the club to look into their own grandmothers china closet to find many rare pieces of glass most likely. Mrs. Russell gave a splendid re view on the manufacturing of pressed glass In the olden days and how the glass was so beautifully made. She gave a sketch on the different types of pressed glass and stated that this Early Ameri can relic should be preserved for the future. Prior to the program Mrs. Pat Lynch. Jr., president presided over a business meeting. Mrs. Davis Cat lett. secretary, read the minutes of the January meeting. The president announced that the National Convention would be held in Minneapolis, Minn., May 12-17. And that the Annual Confer ence on International Relations would be held in Chapel Hill on Feb. 14th starting at 11 a. m. Club members are Invited to attend. Ms. C. I. Thomas presented the idea of giving a silver loving cup to the senior who had made the most progress in the Glee Club of Dunn High. The cup to be pre sented at commencement by the chairman of the music department. The club voted to make this an annual affair. Miss Rachel Clifford discussed the organization of a “United For ces Fcr Education” which was held on Feb. 7. The Womans Club went on record as becoming a member of this oganization. Mrs. Lynch expressed thanks to Mrs. Ed. Strickland and Mrs. J. W. Berry trading as Lees Florist for the lovely Valentine arrange ment of flowers which they had sent the club. Jr. Women Hear Jim McMillan At Meeting Last Night Jim McMillan was guest speaker when members of the Junior Wo mans Club of Dunn met at the Armftry Tuesday evening at 8:00 for their regular monthly meet ing. The club president, Mrs. Paul White presided over the business session of the club meeting. Mrs. Ed Galloway, recording secretary read the minutes of the January meeting. During the business session the club discussed the Junior Day they are having in May. Miss Edith Sor rell gave a report on the “United Forces For Education” meeting she attended as the club represen tative In Buies Creek. The club was unanimous in their approval of the organization. Mrs. George Franklin Blalock, international relations chairman of the club presented the speaker Mr. McMillan who gave a splendid re port on “International Relations". A few highlights of the talk were: The Marshall plan against the Molotov plan, the speaker said the Marshall plan was for giving and the Molotov plan for taking He stated that no high ranking official can say ' anything without it causing repercussions around the world.
