Birthday Friday * !
Miss Becky Ann Hodges was en- j
tertained on her third birthdav Fri- j
day afternoon at a party given at
her home by ther parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Vadie Hodges.
The children played games dur
ing the afternoon and then were
invited into the dining room where
they were served delicious refresh
ments consisting of potato chips,
pimento and banana sandwiches,
pickles, wafers, cookies, chocolate
and vanilla ice cream and birthday
cake. The dining room table was
centered with the lovely birthday
cake flanked by burning tapers.
After the guests had sung Happy
Birthday to Becky and had been
served, she opened her many beau
tiful gifts.
Those attending the delightful
party were the honoree. her sister.

Mr. Prank McLeod, president,
opened the meeting with prayer
and during the business session.
Mr. Wayne Justesen was elected
teacher of the newly organized
class.
After the business meeting the
program was turned over to Mrs.
Jimmy Cannady and Mrs. Ray
Strfckland.
During the social hour which
followed delicious refreshments
consisting of pimento cheese sand
wiches, potato ships, pickles, cookies,
and cokes were served.
As a going-awav present ‘to Mr.
and Mrs. Ray Strickland, the class
presented them with a vegetable
dish. Mr. Strickland will leave
Thursday for California where he
is to enter service with the U. S.
Navy. Mrs. Strickland is going to
her home.

The marriage of Miss Sara Ger
trude Walters, daughte of Mrs. J.
.A. Porter and the late Ernie Wal
ters of Fuquay Springs, to Mr.
Thomas Lee Back of Chapel Hill,
took place Saturday afternoon in
the Fuquay Springs Baptist Church.
Mr. Beck’s parents are Mr. and
Mrs. Cecil K. Beck, also of Fuquay
Springs.

Betty Carole on March 14 at the
Dunn Hospital. Mrs. Godwin is the

Club Meets On
Tuesday Afternoon
Added attractions were in store
for members of the Goodwill Home
Demonstration Club, which held its
monthly meeting on Tuesday af
ternoon at 2:30 in the Community
Building.
The meeting was called to order
bv the president, Mrs. Joe Stuart.
The group, sang “Row, Row, Row
Your Boat" and repeated the club
collect, after which the minutes of
the last meeting were read and
the roll called by the secretary, Mrs.
Johnny Barnes.
Reports were heard from Mrs.
Gwen Flowers. House Furnishings
leader and Mrs. C. C. Adams on
Home Poultry.
The meeting was then turned
over to Miss Huntly, assistant home
agent. She showed some very in
teresting slides on added closet
space.
After the usual meeting Miss.

vester representatives, demonstrated j
freezing and cooking frozen foods. J
Using a beautiful display from
McLamb Machinery Co. of Dunn, i
Miss Knauff cooked and served a ,
complete meal of 'frozen foods.
There was one visitor present ;
and. Mrs. Floyd Blaylock was wel- j
corned back into the club.

brated her sixteenth blrthdr.y Sat
urday evening with a semi-formal
dance at the Dunn Armory from
eight o’clock till eleven o’clock,

skirt over taffeta. She wore spring
flowers in her hair.
