On Saturday night a family birthday dinner was given honoring Mrs. Smith, who is the former Elizabeth Whittenton. FATHER McCarthy ADDRESSES OLDE TOWNE ARTS CLUB MEETING Father Francis McCarthy, pastor ‘ of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, was the guest speaker Friday after noon when Mrs. Victor Anderson and Mrs. John Ciccone were host esses to members of the Olde Towne ; I Arts Club at Johnson-s Restaurant. j At two o’clock a delicious four course luncheon was served, which j consisted of minted grapefruit, toss- j ed salad, fried chicken, new pota- j tqgs, butter beans, spiced crab apples, rolls, muffins, iced tea, and I lemon tarts. He mid that the present distress j in the .world is caused because men, as Individuals and as groups, 'do not achieve this proper relationship. He pointed out the challenge of- sered today, and said that women’s groups in the United States could do a great deal to bring about this spiritual awakening. Ralph Snipes and daughter. Miss Patricia Snipes, and Mrs. W. E. Ryals and her daughter, Mrs. Vaugnn Hutaff at the * Snipes’ home. ' The Snipes’ home was beautifully decorated with spring flowers in the living room and den. Glads, camellias, jonquils, red roses, aza lea!, and a beautiful blue cinnaria plant made up the arrangements. A white and green color scheme was carried out in the dining room. The table was very Improve with an arrangement of white carnations, glads, stocfc. and greenery in a sil ver bowl. The buffet held a beau tiful arrangement of the same flow er*. Silver candelabra were used with white candles. The bride’s mother, Mrs. R. L. Cromartie, Jr., Critcher-Edwards Vows Are Spoken At Home Os Bride Mbs Fronia Ann Edwards, daugh ter of Mr, and Mrs. Albert Edwards of drtmesland, was married to Ray mond Thomas Critcher Saturday in a home ceremony. Mr. Critcher is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Critcher of Angler. The vows of the double-ring cere mony were spoken before the Rev. C. G. Nickins, pastor of. the Meth odist Church of Grlmesland. Wed ding mustq was played br Miss Peg gy Dixon. The bride, who wu given in mar riage by her father, wore a white faille tuit with navy pin-point dots. Hqp blouse was of white crepe trimmed in navy, and her other accessories Were also navy. She carried a prayer book topped with a white orchid. Mbs Lou Glad son of Raleigh was maid of honor. She wore a suit of light blue shantung with navv ac cessaries and a corsage of red car nations. ' Howard Kyles of Raleigh was but mah for Mr. Critcher, and Charles Gaskins, cousin of the bride, lighted the candles prior to the ceremony. Immediately following the wed ding, the couple left for a western honeymoon, after which they will be at home In Raleigh. The hostesses presented Miss Cromartie with a,beautiful corsage of carnations showered with hya cinths. CADIMO HERE Mike Cadimo, of Philadelphia, was in Dunn Friday and Saturday visiting friends. He used to play baseball in Dunn with the Tobacco State League.
