Shaw, program chair man introduced Mrs. Anderson as chairman of the Y.W.C.A. inter national committee, a woman Inn? interested in the work of the Fed erated Council of Church Women, Parent-Teacher association and min er civic clubs in Raleieh where the Anderson family has resided for nearly six years. One guest, meeting is an annual event with the Tea and Tonics Club. Within recent years the club has brought to Lillington for such occasions P3ul Green. Harnett play wright, Richard Walzer and Dean Brenicke of the State College Fac ulty and musicians from the Camp bell College faculty. The study club of 14 members in cludes: Mrs. W. R. Cranford, pres ident. Mrs. Altori G. Johnson, vice president. Mrs. W. B. Hunter, sec retary. and Mrs. E. P. Gentry. Mrs. Neill McLauchlin, Mrs. W. P. Byrd, Mrs. R. K. Footman, Mrs. S. R. McKay. Mrs. Joel G. Layton, Mrs. J. N. Fuquay, Mrs. W. M. Bryan. Mrs. A. M. Shaw, Mrs. John W. Spears, and Mrs. O. R. Rudisill. All were present except Mrs. Cranford. Mrs. Spears and Mrs. Rudisill. Six of the present active members were also among the 12 charter members. For the meeting the Community Center was decorated with arrange ments of azalea.: and dogwood and a tea followed the program. The large tea table was covered with a white cut work cloth which was centered with pink azaleas and Dutch iris in a pyramid arranee ment. Tall pink tapers in crystal holders fluted at the base, with bits of pale maline were arrang ed on either side of the flowers. Cake squares decorated in green, assorted sandwiches, salted nuts, and fri’it punch were served. Mrs. W. B. Hunte- and Mrs. S. R. Mc- Kay alternated in serving the cakes from a silver tray and Mrs. W. M. Bryan and Mrs. Neill McLauchlin presided at the crystal punch bowl. Mrs. Bryan headed the refresh ment committee and serving with here were Mrs. Hunter. Mrs. Mc- Lnuchlin and Mrs. Johnson. Mrs. Gentry was chairman of the invi tation committee and others serving with her were Mrs. Byrd and Mrs. Fuquay. Presbyterian Group Holds Meeting On Monday In Erwin I The Women of the Presbyterian Church held their regular meeting Monday evening at 7:30 o’clock in the church. The meeting opened with the group singing “Lead on O’King Eternal”. This was followed by prayer by Mrs. R. M. Phillips. Mrs. E. H. I asater gave the de votional, and this was followed by j mediated prayer which Mrs. Phillips j read in petitions. . During the business session Mrs. I Fulton Godwin reported on Pres j bvterial which was held in Dunn ' last week. Mrs. Lasater then introduced Mrs. George Swann, Ray Chilton, and Libby Stewart of Campbell ( Col We. Mrs. Swann made a very interest | ing talk on Martin Luther and John i Calvin. Mr. Chilton then sang some I of Mr. Luther's and Mr. Calvin's compositions, which included “When Children Pray”, and -The Stranger of Galilee”, He was .oceomoanied on the pJano bv Miss Stewart. Following the program the ladies »ave the guests a rising vote of thanks for the wonderful program Mrs. BUIv Lasater then invited everyone into the Educational Building for refreshments which consisted of cookies, sandwiches, and punch. Mrs. Clarence Julian •and Mrs. Peggy Herbert assisted he- in serving. Thirty ladies were present for the meeting. Safety Pa fro I,Of Erwin High School Holds Wiener Roast The members of the Safety Pa trol and their guests enjoyed a wiener roast at Maynards Lake Tuesday evening from 7 until 9 o’clock. Mr. A. M. Oldham Is, head of the Safety Patrol. During the evening the group enjoyed roasting wieners and marshmallows and dancing. Enjoying this delightful outing were: Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Oldham, Sheriff C. Episcopal Sewing Circle Meets With Mrs. Ralph Members of the Night Sewing Circle of St. Stephens Episcopal Auxiliary met with Mrs. Frank Ralph Tuesday evening at 7:30 o’clock. The ladies are still busy making things for their bazaar in the fall and citizens of Erwin should be able to fill their gift needs at home next Christmas. During the evening Mrs. Ralph served salted nuts, cheese wafers, cookies and coca-colas to: Mrs. Byron Stevens, Mrs: E. M.. Brand on. Mrs. George Earnshaw Sr., Mrs. Louis Dearborn and Mrs. Henry C, Lee of Dunn. Lillinqton Group At Club Assembly Mrs. Charles Ross of Lillington will serve as parliamentarian for the State Federation of Women’s Clubs which will open its annual c onvention today at Winston-Salem Others going from Lillington will be Mrs. Norman Gossett and Mrs. Roger Hawley, retiring and incom ing presidents of the Lillington Junior Club. This is the 50th anniversary of the organization of the State Fed eration and an outstanding program has been arranged for the state meeting. ATTEND' MEETING Lillington Rotarians were repres ented at the Third Annual Con ference of 279 District of Rotary International which was -held last Thurfdny and Friday at Lumber ton. The Flora Macdonald College choir also appeared on the pro gram. Brock Heads Church Group At Lillington Clifton H.
