Black’s Chapel Methodist Church
was the scene of the marriage of
Miss Nita Best, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas A. Best of Golds
boro to Lathrop Johnson, son of
Mrs. O. M. Johnson of Falcon and
the late Mr. Johnson last Sunday
afternoon.
The five o’clock ceremony was 1
officiated by the Rev. Sam Dod
son, pastor of the church.
Tall white flickering tapers, in
terspersed with fern and ivy and
large floral containers of glads and
fern rqade a beautiful setting for
the marriagevows.
Miss Best was given in marriage |
by her father and her two sisters,
Misses Jean and Janice Best of
Goldsboro were bridesmaids. Becky
Sills was the ring-bearer.
The^bride was attired in a gown,
of pale blue with a white bridal
corsage and accessories of white.
The bridesmaids also were gowned
in pale blue dresses.
Best man for the groom was his
cousin John W. Johnson of Dunn.
Wallace Warren and Onnie John
son and Bill Sills were ushers.
A inception was held at' the
home of the groom after the wed
ding.

Os Beauty Guild
The Hairdressers Guild of Har
inett and Johnston Counties met
at Johnson’s restaurant Wednes
day evening in the General Lee
Room for their regular meeting.
A delicious supper of tomato
juice cocktail, fried chicken, gar
den peas in patty shells, new po
tatoes, tossed salad, cheese, hot
rolls, iced tea and pineapply cream
pie was served the guild members.
Mrs. Pearl Whitehurst of Smith
i field presided over a business ses
sion. The meeting of the Eastern
Guild was announced and several
members from the local guild are
going to attend.
After the business session Mrs.
Reta Whittenton played several
numlyers at the piano and the
group enjoyed games.
There were eighteen members of
the guild present for the meeting.

Miss Patricia Snipes, who on Sat- ;
urday will be wed to Mr. Jimmy j
Coats, was honored on Wednesday
afternoon at two o’clock at a
luncheon. Mrs. R. L. Cromartie,
Jr., and her daughter, Mrs. Lloyd
Coats were co-hostesses for the
event at the Coats home.
Graceful arrangements of mixed
summer flowers were used through
out the house. Centering the din
ing room table was a bouquet of
white lilies, glads and carnations.
Miss Snipes was presented a
lovely corsage of white asters. Mrs.
Cromartie’s gift to" the lionoree was
a silver butter dish and Mrs. Coats
gave her a mahogany antique frame
with flower print.
The menu for the luncheon con
sisted of tomato juice cocktail,
chicken salad, boiled new pota
toes, butter beans in rosettes, can
died apples stuffed with cream
cheese and nuts, pickled peaches,
hot biscuits, iced tea, and choco
late pies with ice cream.
Those attending the delightful
