Mrs. Everette McDonald told of
the "Patava Eating Missionaries"

aries.” Mrs. Gaster closea the meet
ing with prayer.

Raleigh. St. Paul's Church in

ch in Erwin, held their fall meet
ing in the Erwin Church Thurs
day October the ninth.
The meeting opened at 10:30
o’clock with Holy Communion. The
Rev. Robert W. Insko, Rector of
the host church was the celebrant.
Mrs. E. H. Bost, extended greet
ings to visiting auxiliary members.
Mrs. P. B. Smith, chairman of
the District of Wake, presided over
the meeting and recognized Mrs.
U. T. Holmes of Chapel Hill. Dio
cesean president of the Woman’s
Auxiliary, and Mrs. Angus Mcßryde
of Durham, Diocesean, Secretary
of Christian Education.
Reports were then heard from
district officers and Branch Pres
idents. '
Mrs. Smith then introduced Mr.
A. L. Purrington of the Depart
ment of Promotion and a member
of the Vestry of St. Saviors Church
in Raleigh. Mr. Purrington spoke
on “Christian Stewardship.” He
very interestingly, told of its be
ginning in Scotland.
“With us,” Mr. Purrington tcid
the ladies. “Stewardship means a
partnership with God, and how wc
may use His blessings."
Following Mr. Purrington's talk.
Mrs. Smith thanked the ladies for
letting her be their district chair
man for the past two years, and
told of her activities during this
period.
Mrs. Smith then gave a very
interesting talk on "Civil Defense.”
She talked of the things that we
as Christian church members can
do to help this cause. We can spon
sor groups for training, register for
courses in first aid. heme nursing
and mass feeding. “These are only
a few of the things we can do to
help.” the sneake- pointed nut. She
concluded her talk bv telling the
ladies that it is each one’s duty
to make her community “Civil De
fense Minded.”
Following her talk, Mr. Insko
held noondav praveis.
Mrs. U. T. Holmes of Chanel
Hill and Diocesean president, was
then introduced.
Mrs. Holmes spoke on the Gen
eral Convention and Triennal which
was held in Boston in SeDtember
and to which she was a delegate.
She showed mans which gave the
ladies an idea of the layout of the
city of Boston and the buildings
where the Triennal was held. She
had the program outlined on a
large poster which gave the ladies
an overall picture and a clearer
understanding of what' happened
at the convention and Triennal.
