THURSDAY AFTERNOON, OCTOEER 16, 1952 SENIOR WOMAN'S CLUB ENTERTAINS AT TEA FOR NEW MEMBERS, TEACHERS The Senior Womans Club enter- j Wained at a delightful tea at the home of Mrs. W. M. Brannon Tues- j day afternoon honoring the new ■ club members and new teachers of j the Dunn faculty. The guests were greeted at the door by Mrs. W. W. Carroll who introduced them to Mrs. Brannon, who in turn introduced them to| the receiving line composed of: Mrs. | Pat Lynch, president of the Senior) Womans Club, Mrs. Ted Burwell, 1 president of the Junior Womans Mrs. J. P. Clumpier. Mrs. | Ralph Warren and Mrs. Wilbert! Lee. Mrs. David Clifford then intro- 1 duced the guests to the second I receiving line. These were Mrs. A1 Compton. Mrs. Mary Crisp, Mrs.' Willard A. Slocumb, Miss Laura, Bell, Mrs. James Snipes, Mrs. Dick Taylor, Miss Flora Gilbert, and Miss Ophelia Matthews. Mrs. H. C. Thompson will leave tomorrow for Staunton Military Academy to spend the weekend with their son, Billy, who is a student there. THE DAILY RECORD, DUNN, N. 0. DISTINGUISHED VI DUNN EASTERN ST Dunn Chapter No. 59, Order of the Eastern Star held a regular meeting on Monday night, Oct. 13. in the Masonic Temple. Mrs. Rod ney Chestnut, Worthy Matron, and Mr. H. Paul Strickland, Worthy Patron were presiding. There were forty-five members and fourteen visitors present. The Chapter was honored by the official visit of Mrs. V. C. Swan son, District Deputy Grand Mat ron of the 9th district, who gave instructions in the work o! the or der. Also visiting Dunn Chapter, was the District Deputy Grand Pa tron of the 9th district, Mr. Sam Allen Parker of Fayetteville. Other distinguished guests present were: Mr. H. W. Prince, Worthy Grand Patron of the Grand Chapter of North Carolina, and Mrs. Paul L. Strickland, who is serving as Grand Martha this year; Mrs. H. W. Prince, Grand wife, Mjrs. V. J. Rice, Grand Committee member; Mrs. Susie Stevens, Worthy Ma tron of Erwin Chapter No. 230; SITORS AT AR MEETING Mrs. Ethel Parker, Past Matron of ; Long Leaf Pine No. 186, Fayette- | ville, N. They ; were presented copies of the new Revised Version of the Holy Bible Gwen Johnson Is Homecoming Queen At Benson j Miss Gwen Johnson, Benson high school senior, and daughter of Mr. j and Mrs. Dwight Johnson of Ben j son, was chosen queen of the Home coming event held in the Benson American Legion hall on Friday night. The Homecoming act ivities got underway Friday after noon when the Benson school team j and the Broadway school team of Lee County met in a friendly battle j of football tactics. In the evening the festivities were j held at the Legion hall dance | arena with Herb Gupton and his i orchestra from Raleigh furnishing [ the music.
