- MONDAY AFTERNOON, NOVEMBER 10, 1952 Strickland Rites Held On Sunday Richard Harrison Strickland, 86, widely-known farmer of Dunn, j Route 5, died Saturday morning at 12:15 at Highsmith Hospital in Fayetteville. He had been in poor i health for sometime. Funeral services were held Sun day afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at Lee’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. 1116 Rev. C. H. Coats of j Four Oaks and the Rev. Mr. Taylor of Falcon officiated. Burial was in j the Williford family cemetery, be tween Dunn and Plainview. Mr. Strickland, a native and life long resident of Sampson County, | was the sc -1 of the late William T. and Nancy Ann Core Strickland. He was a member df Lee’s Chapel Church. Surviving are one brother, G. W. Strickland of Fayetteville; two! sisters, Miss Jennie B. Strickland of Falcon; Mrs. Nicey Lee of Fal-j con. His wife died about two arid a' half years ago. She had been in ill health for about a year and a half and seriously ill for the past four days. Mrs. Weeks was a native and lifelong resident of Harnett Coun ty, daughter of the late Moses W. and Zilpha Jernigan Barefoot. She had been a member of the Stoney Run Free Will Baptist Church since she was 11 years old, and was ac tive in the church as long as health permitted. Funeral services were held Sun day afternoon at 1 o’clock at the Stoney Run Church. The Rev. Charlie Johnson, the Rev. C. W. Kirby and the Rev. J. D. Capps officiated. Burial was in Green wood Cemetery in Dunn. Surviving are her husband, J. D. Weeks of Dunn, Route 2; four sons, Albert D. Weeks of Durham, Jesse A. Weeks of Dunn, Oral W, Weeks and Walter K. Weeks, both of Dunn, Route 4, Mrs. Willie Tart of Dunn, Route 2, and Mis. Harvey, Lee of Dunn, Route 5: three sisters, j Mrs. Anna Lee and Mrs. J. W. The honoree was presented a love ly orchid corsage upon arrival. The long dining table was cen tered with a huge oblong arrange ment of pink roses, snapdragons and asters interpersed with fern. Guests found their places desig nated by pretty bridal placecards. A delicious three course luncheon was served. This consisted of to mato juice cocktail, turkey with dressing. English peas in shells with mushroom sauce, can died yams, cranberry salad, hot rolls and coffee. Strawberry par fait for dessert completed the menu.
