TEA AT HUTAFF HOME COMPLIMENTS
DECEMBER BRIDES-ELECT TUESDAY
Tuesday afternoon, Mrs. Charles
Hutaff’s home was the scene of
an enchanting Christmas party
when Miss Rosalyn Poole and Miss
Nancy Abernathy were entertained
at tea by Mrs. Hutaff, Mrs. C. G.
Dunn and Mrs. J. O. Warren.
The front door of the Hutaff
home spelled out the Christmas
theme. Here a jolly snowman was.
flanked by large white urn- filled
with magnolia leaves, pyracanthia
and huge clusters of nandina ber
ries.
Mrs. J. R. Young greeted the
guests and Misses Abernathy, Poole \
and the hostesses received inform- ,
ally in the living room. Red Christ- [
mas tree balls outlined, the edges i
and tie backs of the ruffled white j
nrgandv curtains and gave a spark
ling effect on the enti'e room.
The mantle had a beautiful ar
rangement of red berries shaped
like a very tall a*id graceful
Christmas tree with a green fol
iase base. The other end of
mantle held a a tall red candlt
garnished at the bottom with greens
and small bunches of red berries
Holly, red candles and red roses
completed this lovely setting.
Miss Abernathy was beautifully
dressed in a blue beaded satin
cocktail frock and Miss Poole was
charming in a rose starched shan
tung. They wore white orchWM
gifts from the hostesses.
Mrs. J. R. Johnson asked the
guests into the dining room where
Mrs. E. L. Overman. Mrs. J. S. Far
thing. Mrs. H. M. Abernathy and
Mrs. M. B. Poole alternated in ser
ving punch.
The dining room was most strik
ing and unusual. The table was
covered with a delicate pink silk
damask cloth. Very large bunches
of red grapes, with smaller clus
ters of silver grapes, covered the
base of an off-center tall silver
candelabra, whose red tapers spark
led with sprays of red-beaded bril- ‘
liaflts. The cloth was festooned j
with a double row of brilliants
caught in the center with a cluster
of small red grapes. Individual
night. Mr. Thugland is the band!
director in Clinton.
