Arrangements of mixed summer

Scouts Have Formal
Party In Erwin
Members of Girl Scout Troop 21
and their dates enjoyed a formal
party at the Park Center Tuesday
evening from 7:30 until 10:30
o’clock.
The club room was beautifully
decorated with- crepe paper stream
ers In pastel shades. Silver stars
were attached to the streamers and
full moon was used over the piano.
During the evening the group
enjoyed a scavenger hunt, games
and dancing. Later they were ser
ved ritz crackers sandwiches, po
vtato chips, oook?es, candy and
coca-colas.

| Simon P. Sauls, 57, of Raleigh,
j Route 3, died Wednsday afternoon
at Veterans Hospital, Fayetteville,
after a long Illness. Surviving are
his wife, the former Bernice Ste
phenson; four sons] C. A. Sauls,
Florence, S. C.; James C. Sauls,
Fort Jackson, S. C.; Wilbur and
Gordon Sauls, both of the < home;
five daughters, Mrs. Paul Oox,
Fuquay Springs; Mrs. Marion West,
Goldsboro; Mrs. Charles Walton,
Willow Springs; Edna Ruth and
Gloria Sauls, both of the home;
two sisters, Mrs. Richard Harris of

For Meadow Picnic
The annual Meadow School pic
nic for the benefit of the teachers,
the Seniors, and their families will
be held May 19, at 6 p. m. on the
Meadow School playground. Fami
lies attending in Meadow School
district are asked to bring a pic
nic basket.
Immediately after the supper
there will be a short business meet
ing fen- the purpose of the installa
tion of the officers of the Meadow
P. T. A. for the school year 1935-
54.
The lunchroom win not be dedica

Library Wins
Award Trophy
The Dunn High School Library,
headed by Velma Blackburn, has
been awarded the International
Award Trophy at the annual State
Convention of library Clubs.
It la a travelling award and Is
presented each year by Mrs. Eta
ily Loften of Durham to, the high
school library group which does
the best job in the state on in
ternational relations. .Last year the
award went to the. Durham High
School Library.
The award was won by the Dunn
Library for its work in sending
“CARE’’ packages to India last
year. A total of five large cases of
books were sent to India from the
Dunn school through the efforts
of the Library Club. Mm. Pat
ricia Myers is advisor to the club.
