Johnson, Sr. and pighter, Miss Jacqueline Johnson, entertained at open house on Sat urday afternoon rrom 3:30 until 1:30 honoring Miss Shirley Errol! and Sheldon Richard Hall of West Virginia. Around thirty guests call sd during the hour. The home was thrown en suite for the occasion with lovely ar rangements of garden flowers be ing used in profusion throughout. A color scheme of pink was car ried out in th* dining room. The BMe was centred with an ar rangement of pink Queen Anne’s lace, babies breath and fern. At me end of the table Mrs. T.. C. Miss Peggy Lynn Ezzell, sister of the bride, of Dunn was maid of honor, and the matron of honor was Mrs. James A. Chase of New York City, the bride’s sister. They wor floor-length gowns of pink ny lon net, fashioned with strapless bodices, tiered skirts, and match ing stoles. They wore matching bandeau and carried arm bouquets of pastel muriel daisies. Mrs. Hall, mother of the bridegroom, chose a nile green nylon lace and crepe gown with matching headdress and glov es. She also wore a white purple throated orchid. Bridesmaids Feted At Luncheon On Sat. Afternoon IJje bridesmaids participating in the' Hall-Ezzell wedding were re membered with gifts by Miss Shirley Ezzell at the luncheon given Sat urday for the bride-elect by Miss Lillian Ezzell. f‘ „ Luncheon was served at 12:30. C. ——■ Lee-Hackett Vows Spoken Saturday At Baptist Parsonage The wedding of Miss Mary Edith Hackett of Dunn to Mr. John Da vid Lee of Dunn, Route 3, took place on Saturday morning at nine o’clock in the Parsonage of the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Er nest P. Russel] officiated at the double ring ceremony. ’• The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Hackett of Dunn. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Lee, also of Dunn. White decorations were used for the wedding. On the mantel was an arrangement of white daisy mums and white gladioli with fern. White candles were also used. Mrs. C. C. Upchurch, pianist, presented several numbers and Mrs. David Adams, soprana, sang “O Promise Me”. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white summer suit with white accessories. She carried a wjiite Bible centered with a white orchid and showered with stephanotis. She was attended by Miss Mary Elizabeth Lee, sister of the groom. Miss Lee wore a pastel blue dress and a shoulder corsage of pink rose buds. The groom’s father was best man. Those attending the wedding were members of the family and special friends. Immediately following the.cere mony Mrs. David Adams enter tained at a reception at her home. Guests were greet informally by the receiving line and invited into the dining room. On the buffet in the dining room was an artistic white arrangement. The table was covered with a white cloth and held at one end the lovely two-tiered wedding cake and at the other the punch bowl. Mrs Ernest Russell served cake and Mrs. Adams poured punch. Others assisting in serving nuts and mints were Miss Betty Jean Barefoot, Miss Faye Monds, Philip and Kathy Adams. Around thirty guests attended the reception. After a wedding trip the couple will make their home temporarily with the bride’s parents. Jackson-East Vows Said Miss Shirley Voncile East, dau ghter of Mir. and Mrs. Walter Robert East _ of Greensboro, Rt 8, was marrie'd to Jack Dempsey Jackson of Greensboro Saturday night at 8 o’clock in the Rocky Knoll Baptist Church. The Rev. DeWitt Long, pastor of the church, officiated at the ceremony. Mt„ Jackson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Jackson of Dunn, Rt. 1. The bride had her hister, Mrs. George Smith, for her matron of hdinar, and Miss Janet Whitite more- was the maid of honor. Patsy [Duncan was the little flower girl, and the bride’s flve-year-old bro ther, Walter Robert East Jr., was the ring bearer. George C. Jackson was best man for his brother. The other bro thers, Bruce Jackson and James Jackson Ushered along with George Smith and Eugene Brid ges, brothers-in-law of the bride. Wedding music was presented by Mrs. Roger Teague and Clarence Byrd. The bride wore a white taffeta gown made with lace sleeves and yoke, and with a bouffant skirt. Her fingertip illusion veil was caught to a tiara of seed pearls and orange blossoms. St|e carried a showered orchid on a white prayer book. The attendants wore organdy dresses of gink, green, yellow and blue. They .carried bouquets of car nations aria baby’s breath tinted to match their dresses. The flower girl In green organdy and car ried a basket of pastel flowers. For a week’s wedding trip, the bride wore a navy blue suit with navy and white accessories. The bride graduated from a Greens boro high school this spring and is now employed there. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wood Ballard of Kipling and Mr. Harrington is the son of Mrs. John David McWhirter of Kipling and the late B. D. Harrington. Miss Ballard graduated this spring from Greensboro College in Greensboro and Mr. Harrington is a 1953 grad uate of State College in Raleigh. Given in marriage by her fa ther, the bride wore a gown of Chantilly lace made with a wide scalloped neckline and circular train. Her fingertip veil of illusion sind lace was attached to a May, Queen of Scots bonnet. She car ried a white prayerbook topped with a purple-throated orchid. Mrs. John Harding was matron of honor for her sister. Brides maids were Miss Marlene Ken dall, cousin of the bride, and Miss Hope Harrington, sister of the bridegrrom. They all wore gowns of French blue net styled with strapless bodices and full ruffled skirts. They carried noways of Shasta daisies. Vic Anderson Has Ice Cream Party For Mormon Class The Young People’s Class of the Morman Church of Dunn was en tertained Friday night at an old fashioned ice cream supper at the home of Sunday School superin tendent Victor Anderson. The party was held from seven till nine-thirty. Guests were also served cold drinks, cookies, and doughnuts. The couple will live In Athens, Ga. _2 . , Goodwill Club Has Meeting v The Goodwill Home Demonstra tion Club held Its regular month ly meeting Tuesday, June 2 at Goodwill. Club building. Mrs. David Campbell, president called the meeting to order. The opening song was "Sweet and Low.** The devotional was given by Mrs. Julian Marby. Mrs. Fletcher Flowers, secretary, , called the roll and read the min utes of the previous meeting. There were 26 members present and one ; new member added, Mrs. T. Ik Smith. The treasurer’s report was given by' Mrs. Evit Denning. During the business session plans were made to have a week of Bible School at the club buildfygß start ing June 28th through July 3rd. Plans were also made to attend Farm and Home Week in Raleigh. Mrs. Melvin Pate* Family life leader, gave the demonstration for the month entitled "Understanding of Old People.” A project report was given by Mrs. Dallas Jones. The following were welcomed as visitors, Mrs. T. J. Barnes and Mrs. Hubert Byrd. ; After the demonstration the group prayed the Club' Collect. Fol lowing the recreation the hostesses served delicious refreshments. The meeting adjourned to meet July 14th at Goodwill Club building with Mrs. C. C.
