Ceremony In Wade
Mrs. Louise Williams Edwards
and William Srpith were married
in a ceremony solemnized in the
Bluff Presbyterian Church in Wade
Sundny June 28. The bride is the
daughter of Josiah Williams of
Wade and Mr. Smith is the son
of Mrs. B. E. Shaw.
The Rev. D. M. McGeachy, pas
tor of the bride, officiated at the
double ring ceremony. Vo'.ys were ,
spoken befoie the altar which was
banked with southern smilax fern.
Baskets of white gladiola and baby’s
breath along wi„h wnite cathedral
candles in seven-branch candela
bra completed the setting.
Mrs. James McPhail, pianist
played traditional wedding nius,m,
end accompanied Daniel C. Pat
terson. vocalist, who sang, “Be
cause " “The Sweetest Story Ev
ery Told,’’ and as the benediction,
•’Oh, Perfect Love.”
Mrs, John /illinms, sister-in
law of the bride, was the matron ■
of honor, Her' street-length dress »
was pink nylon and she. wore white i
accessories. Her cascade bouquet
was of white pompoms and baby's
breath..
The bride, given in marriage by
her brother, Edward Williams,
wore a navy crepe dress with white
trimming and rhinertones. She
wore a picture hat and other
matching accessories. She carried
a bouquet of white pompom chry
santhemums centered with pink
carnations and baby’s breath.
George Smith attended the
bridegroom as best man. Ushe-s
were John Williams, brother Os
the bride, and Larry Wilson.
Following the ceremony, the cou»
pie greeted their guests in tit?
vestibule of the church.
Later Mrs. Lew's Kin’aw, sister
of the bride entertained at a buf
fet supper at her home in Wade
for members of the wedding party
and out-of-town guests.

Pat Lynch, 111, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Pat Lynch. Jr., was honored
on his fifth birthday with a party
on Friday afternoon at three thirty
o’clock,
* The guests gathered on the lawn
and watched Pat open his gifts.
They were served birthday cake
and ice cream.
All the children wore their bath
being served, they were taken to
the Dunn swimming pool where they

Later the guests were invited over
to the park and served orange
drinks and peanut butter and crack

mother of the honoree.
Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Johnson
and their son, Jimmy, have moved
into their new brick home they re
cently built on the corner of Third
and Ivy street. Mrs Johnson’s par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth McGraw
formerly of Lynchburg, Va., are
also making their home with them.
Fireworks Death
Toll 8 For Year
CHICAGO (IP) Fireworks have
killed at least eight persons in
1953 and maimed, disfigured and
injured hundreds more despite
tighter laws regulating or prohib
iting their use, a survey showed
today.
During the Independence Day
weekend the United Press counted
one fireworks death and at least
66 injuries in which fireworks play
ed a part. In three of the mishaps
youhg boys lost limbs.
But even before the holiday ar
rived. fireworks had claimed sev
en lives and caused injuries to lOf
i persons.
