They began pounding on the door of No. 93. i “We want Lennon 1” they yelled. 1 They considered Alton the active and symbolic leader of the Fresh inan Class. " ‘ Tom Wright volunteered to be Alton’s decoy. He Jumped from the second-story window of pH and hit the ground running. Baptist Students Union, his Junior year Lennon fought for dignity of Fresh men. As President of the Student Body his Senior year he requested and received the "courtesy” of appear ing at a formal meeting of the faculty to urge more stringent rules to safeguard the Freshmen. He urged that hazing. In all forms, be eradicated. There is no recorder serious flare -up of hazing on the- Wake Forest Campus since Lennon’s Freshman presidency, the office he used in the main to give the ‘‘Newish’’ a , better break. Alton Lennon, athletically, went to college as a football center. He .played the pivot while he was can tain of the Freshman team. Tn jurles kept him out of football hts Sophomore year.
