He far exceed all records so far set by chewing 120 sticks of gum for seven hours, he reported. He began chewing at 6 p. m. Wednesday evening and chewed until 1 a. m. Thursday, he said. The highest previous to this was 195 set by an unidentified youth. Miss Sue Johnson of Winston-Salem chewed M sticks for four hours and 12 minutes as the record last weekend. Butts and Jessie Lee of this community. Mrs. Alice Morgan and Mrs. J. T. Butts spent Wednesday In Gainer with Mr. and Mrs. Joe McLeod. Mrs. McLeod Is Mrs. Morgan's sister and their many friends In this community are so happy to know this couple are steadily Improving and able to be up in the house now. Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Butts have re turned from a vacation trip of four weeks, that carried them through nine states, and also to NuOallus In Old Mexico. They ’were accompanied to Greenville S. C. by their daughte- Lodis and Francis Stephenson of Varina who are students at 800 Jones University there. Also on the trip was Mrs. Butts neice, Miss Laylon Painell who went as far as Tuscon, which was the home of Mrs. Butts sister, Mrs. Vincent Zazona. After a few hour visit there. Miss Parnell continued her trip by bus to Calif, where'she is employed. The return trip was made around the gulf coast, with a couple of days atop at Tarpon Springs, Fla. This Is the sponge industrial centem and proved to be quite in tereaOng. While there they went for a fishing trip but no luck just one tiny fish and an octopus. They also visited Sliver Springs, then back to Greenville to spend the night with their daughter. The weather was ideal In Arlaona, could have gone for a swim most anytime. They compared the climates of Arizona with that of Florida this way-terrlbly dry and warm in Arisonu and moist, warm rained for the first time since July. They report a wonderful trip, but really think Harnett County the best place of all. GROUP ENJOYS IN FORMAL PARTY , A group of teen-agers were hos tess for an informal party at the Cape Fear Home Demonstration Club House recently. The party was chaperoned by Mrs. Hubert Byrd | and Mrs. Grady Matthews, who al so directed the recreation. Manv : interesting games as well as a rec -1 ord player provided music for the evening. Dancing was enjoyed by all. The r#lreshment-table was cov ered with a white-linen cloth.
