Mrs. George McKay Circle Hostess On Wednesday afternoon at 4:00, Mrs. George McKay was hostess to the Ruth Gardner Circle of the First Baptist Chutch. Mrs. Allen Lee, circle chairman, presided over the meeting and led the devotional using the 4th Chap, ter of Mark as scripture reference. She closed with prayer. General business was discussed and plans were made for com munity missions for this month. The program was given by Mrs. Leslie Parker who talked on some fundamentals of Christian work. At the conclusion of the pro gram, the hostess, assisted by her granddaughters, Margaret Anne and Judy McKay, served peach Ice cream sundaes, cup cakes and salt ed nuts. Attending were, Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Parker, Mrs. J. F. Martin, Miss Minnie Ouy and Mrs. M. B. Allen. Frances Johnson Circle Has Meet The Frances Johnson Circle of the Branch Sunday School of the First Baptist Church hell its June meeting Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 at the home of Mrs. Maggie Woodall. The group sang os their open ing hymn, 'What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and Mrs. M. F. Hodges, leader, read passages from the 4th Chapter of Mark. Mrs. Reta Whit tenton led in prayer. In the absence of the program chairman, Mrs. L. H. Tew present ed the program with Mrs. K. M. Wood participating. Clothing was brought by mem bers for the bos for Korea and business matters were discussed. Refreshments of pimento cheese sandwiches, potato chips, cookies, and iced drinks were served to Mrs. Hodges, Mrs. Whittenton. Mrs. Tew Mrs. Wood, Mrs. Charlie Butler. Mrs. W. R. Larsen. Mrs. R. E. Clinton, Mrs. Joe Norris and one guest, Mrs. Betty Woodall. Linden Girl Is Wed In Concord Miss Jessie Giles and William K) Silber were united in' marriage in the chapel at St. James Luther an Church of Concord at five o’clock Tuesday afternon, June 1. Miss Giles is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Giles of Linden, and Mr. Silber is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Silber of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Rev. George R. Whitteca? officiated at the double ring cere mony before an altar adorned with arrangements of white gladioli, lilies, snapdragons, and gypsophi lia. Miss Sara Giles, the bride's sis. ter, presented a program of organ music before the ceremony. Her numbers Included "Moonlight Son ata”, ‘‘Wedding Prayer”, and ‘The Lord’s Prayer”. The bridal couple entered the chapel together, unattended. The bride wore a white street-length dress of imported antique taffeta. Fashioned with a full skirt, the fitted sleeveless bodice was design ed with twin-petal neckline detail ed with seed pearls. Her hat and short mitts were made of white lace highlighted with seed pearls. A purple.throated white orchid complimented her wedding ensem ble. Mrs. Giles . and Mrs. Silber, mothers of the bride and bride groom, were attired in navy blue with which they wore corsages of white carnations. The bride is a graduate of the Linden High School and Appa lachian State Teachers College in Boone. During the past year, she was a member of the faculty of th Concord High School. The bridegroom was graduated from Olney High School In Phila delphia. He served a two-year tour of duty with the U. s. Army in Newfoundland. He is now attend, ing Lenolr-Rhyne College in .Hick ory majoring in business law. For travel, the bride changed to a dress of pastel blue embroider ed silk organsa over gray taffeta, accented with pink pearls and white accessorise. She won her bridal orchid. Following a wedding trip, the couple will make their home in Hickory. Attending the wedding from Lin den were Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Oflee, Mr. Joe OUee, Miss Sara Giles, and Mrs. Florence OUee.
