Anti-Liquor Group Heard WASHINGTON (TO Religious and temperance groups testified to day that Americans are so hounded by the voice of "liquordom” that they almost believe it wrong to lead sober lives. They said liquor advertisers, through radio and television ad vertising, are storming the con fines of homes and corrupting the minds of the nation’s youth. Wltnesses of religion * and tem ■perance groups made these charges before a Senate Commerce sub committee considering legislation |to ban liquor, wine, and beer ad vertising in interstate commerce. Methodist Bishop Wilbur E. Ham maker, the first of 36 supporting witnesses, said alcohol advertising over radio and television has be come “an insolent intruder” which “barges into the homes of the land and blatantly proclaims its Un truths ih the living rooms of mil lions.” Dr. C. Emanuel Carlson, execu tive director of the Baptist Joint Committee on Public Affairs, said Americans are so “hounded” by “the enslaving influence of the voice of liquor” that “we are al most made to believe that we are wrong even to want to lead sober lives.” ( ■, jo IAL I BANK 1 J Before You Trade Drive And Compare The New Dodge or The New Plymouth Top Dollar For Your Car NOW Phono 2127 or 2594 Naylor - Dickei mm Dunn, N.
