THURSDAY AFTERNOON, AUGUST 18, 1955 Mrs. Surles Entertains Class Tuesday Afternoon Tommy Jones, who is moving to Lewiston, N. C. soon, was honored a party Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock when Mm. James Surles entertained members of her Sunday School class. Tommy was remembered by the hostess with a boy’s scout canteen as a going away gift. During the afternoon games were played with Mike Lynch, Bessie Prescott, and Glenn Pope as the winners. Mrs. Surfes later served delic ious ice cream, mixed cookies, and peanuts to the guests. Each guest was also given a favor. Those attending the party were: Tommy Jones, Mike Lynch, Bessie Prescott, Carolyn Jordan, Sue Wilson, Glenn Pope, Jimmy Surles, Jan Dykama and Sandy Dykema. Three Dunn Girls Attend Meet At Purdue University Masses Alice Prince, Janice Fow ler and Virginia Turlington, three Dunn girls, will leave here Sunday, August 21 to attend the National Convocation of Methodist Youth at Purdue University in Lafayette. Indiana The girls were three of the eight delegates chosen to at tend from the Raleigh district and therefore consider it quite an honor to attend the national meeting. The Dunn girls will leave Greens boro on Sunday by train and will arrive Monday at Lafayette. Ind iana for the five-dav convocation, which meet every four years. The Methodist Youth Convoca tion will include: Worship, Drama, Prayer, Discussion groups. Music, interest groups, recreation, voca tional counselling, and speakers. Four of the most outstanding speakers will be Dr. Henry Hitt Crane, Bishop G. Bromley Oxman, Dr. James Thomas and Bishop Gerald Kennedy. Approximately 5,000 will attend the convocation including young people, adult workers, missionaries, and exchange students. The three Dunn girls will return home Saturday, August 27th. VISITED SUMMERLINS Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sloan of Raleigh visited Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Summerlin over the weekend. Mrs. Dawson Is Hostess To Winsome Class The Winsome Class of the First Baptist Church met Tuesday night at €ie home of Mrs. Joe Mack Dawson with Mrs. Albert Watkins as co-hostess. The meeting was opened with prayer offered by Mrs. Ernest Rus sell, after which Mrs. Frank Por ter read the 126th Psalm. Mrs. Porter then gave a selected reading, entitled ‘T)ay of Beginning Again”. Margaret's (Continued From Pare One) On Saturday, Townsend, an em thusiastic horseman, will take part in a gentleman’s race at the Bel gian port of Ostend and then re main to watch the races at the same course on Sunday. He re turns to England Sept. 4 for the Farnborough Air Show. On Sunday Princess Margaret becomes eligible to marry without the formal consent of her sister. Queen Elizabeth 11, who could never give her consent for Mar garet to marry a man who has been divorced. In the land of Romeo and Juliet the Italian press was faithfully counting the days up to the birth day. “In four days Margaret has the right to marry Townsend," Rome’s Momento Sara said on its front page. “Is this the conclusion of the ‘love story of the century?’ ” asked II Messaggero, a conservative Rome newspaper. “In a few days Mar garet could announce her decision to marry Townsend.” Margaret’s dilemma also aroused sympathetic comments in Frtnee where the mass circulation weekly Paris magazine Jours de France said the biggest gift she will receive I Friendly Dozen Met At Harrall Home Wednesday Mrs. Tommy Harrall was hostess to the Friendly Dozen bridge club Wednesday night at her home on General Lee Avenue at eight o’- clock. Attractive arrangements of mixed flowers were used in the living room and dining room of the Harrall home. Mrs. Paul L. Strickland, Jr. and Mrs. William Manning of Secane, Pennsylvania were guests for the evening of bridge. Mrs. Manning is visiting her mother, Mrs. E. T. Maynard, here. Mrs. Graham Prince won club high honors, with Mrs. Wayne Ju stesen winning second high. Guest high, was worn by Mrs. Manning while Mrs. Billy Pearsall won in a game of bingo. During progressions the hostess served delicate assorted sandwiches and Cokes to the players.
