Mr. and Mrs. Kelly greeted the guests in the vestibule and the bridal couple received with them. 1 Leo Kelly, Jr., student at the phar j macy school at the University of North Carolina, assisted his par ents in receiving. ■ For the occasion the Kelly home ' was decorated throughout in a pink color scheme. Pink roses were used in an antique crystal tumbler . on a pie crust table in the living room. , In the dining room the refresh . ment table was covered with nylon r.et over pink taffeta. The cloth which was floor length, was ■ gathered an all sides and decorat j ec at each corner with tiny hearts •o: pink tulle, intersperced with I pink sweet heart roses and piruc 1 ribbons: ! All crystal appointments were • used on the table. Pink asters and • white carnations formed the cent ! erpeice, bordered with pink candles iin cyrstal candelabra. The small | maline hearts and sweet heart I roses also trimmed the base of the ! candles. ; Lime punch, bridal cakes dec j orated in lilies of the valley, and ! homemade green and white mints I were served. Mrs. Vance Detweiler, mother of the bridegroom, presid ed at the punch bowl and Mrs Carl Kelly, mother of the bride, served the cakes. They were assist ed In serving by Miss Ann Hodges of Greensboro, cousin of the bride, and Miss Janice Harrington. Guests included the members of the wedding party, the two fami lies, and all who were to assist with the reception to be given Thursday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kelly following the ceremony. Mr and Mrs. Willie Dean spent Sunday in Farmville as guests of Mr. Dean’s brother, Hilman Dean and Mrs. Dean. Hostess was Mrs. John Spears, who presented Miss Kelly a corsage of Mamie Eisen hower carnations and a silver pie server. Miss Glenda Kelly, Miss Emily j Kelly and Johnny Spears assisted Mrs. Spears in serving Cokes - or - coffee, potato puffs, cheese biscuits, and scones to six teen guests. Miss Kelly was entertained on | Sunday, August 14 at a luncheon , at the Reinlyn House in Raleigh. The luncheon was given by an ! aunt and uncle of the bride-elect,! Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Bethume of 1 Fuquay. They presented Miss Kelly j with a yellow orchid corsage and | a gift of china. Those present were members of j the Bethune family of Fuquay, Miss , Kelly, Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Kelly I and Misses Sarah and Glfendu 1 j Kelly of Lillington. On Monday evening, August 15 | Miss Kelly was honor guest at the ‘ regular meeting of the Ace of Clubs ! held at the home of Mrs. J. A. ' Walker. Summer flowers, primarily j asters and roses, were used through ' out the home. Upon her arrival Mis Kelly was presented a wrist corsage of pink carnations and yellow sweetheart roises. Mrs. Wal ker’s gift to her was a wrought iron fruit bowl. Mrs. Sidney Howell won tire club high prize, while Miss Kelly was guest high. Miss Laura Mae Ed wards was low scorer. Lime Ice punch was served during progress ions. At the conclusion of play ice cream, topped with green maras chino cherries, individual bridal cakes ieed in green, and salted nuts were served. Those present other than club members were Miss Kelly, her mother, Mrs. G. 0. | Kelly. Mrs. Caviness Brown, Miss Barbara Ann Howell, Miss Laura ! Mae Edwards, and Mrs. Gentry j Johnson. Miss Irene Lassiter and Miss ! May Marshbanks of Buie’s Creek I and Chapel Hill are vacationing ! in Nova Scotia. They plan to be i there around two weeks. THURSDAY AFTERNOON, AUGUST 18, 1955 Woman's Society Hears Pin nix At Lillington Rev. L. C. Pinnix, pastor of the Lillington Baptist Church, was the guest speaker when the Woman’s Society of Christian Service of the Lillington Methodist Church held its monthly meeting Tuesday night at the church. The Rev. Mr. Pinnix spoke on she topic, "Community Missions.” He was introduced by Mrs. John W. Spears and Mrs. H. G. Aiken, society president, presided. The de votional was led by Mrs. J. C Croom. Around ten members of the ex ecutive board were present for a call meeting prior to tire program when quarterly reports w'ere com piled. At the business session an nouncement also was made of the conference School of Missions to be held next week at Duke Uni versity. Mrs. Walter Lee Johnson has been designated to represent the Lillington Society. Douglas Schafran will arrive home Friday after the close of the summer school session at 'East Carolina College in Greenville. Haywood Hamilton returned tc Carolina Beach on Wednesday aft er visiting several days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Ham ilton.
