DENNING STORK SHOWER Mrs. Roy Mason and Mrs. James Faircloth entertained at a Stork’s Shower Saturday evening at 8:00 at the Erwin Park Center in honor of Mrs. Fulton Faircloth. The recreation room was deco rated with beautiful .pink and white carnations. Upon arrival the honoree was presented a corsage of pink and white carnations tied with blue rib bon. The gift table had a stork as a centerpiece. Other tables were dec orated with arrangemests of carna tions. When the guests arrived they piayed a variety of games with the prize going to Mrs. Rachel Godwin of Dunn. The honoree then opened her many lovely gifts. Refreshments consisted of spiced ham sandwiches, cup cakes, pota to chips, ritz crackers with cheese whip and Coca-Colas. Those present were Mrs. Rachel Godwin. PARKER PRESIDENT The Men's Fedowship Club of the Erwin Baptist Church met Monday evening at six-thirty in the recreation department of the chunch. Mr. Ellis Barbour presided over the business Officers for the com ing year were elected as follows: Gus Parker, president; Roy God win, secretary; Pete Pate, mem bership vice-president; Lloyd Byrd, activity vice-president. Ellis Bar bour, program chairman; Bud Strickand, chorister. Rev. Forrest Maxwell showed a film, ‘‘Go Ye Unto The World,” with the cooperative program. A group of men from South Erwin Baptist Church attended the meet ing in order to organize a club for their church. About thirty members attended. Mrs. Ralph Maxwed announced that Pat Turlington won Ist prize in the scrap book contest during the Centesnial and Linda Autry won 2nd prize. All gralemothers were asked to meet Friday after noon at 3:30 in the grammar school auditorium. Then a movie was presented on Cub Scouting, followed by Mrs. D. C. Woodall in troducing Patrolman Black Leo nard of Lillington. He made a short talk on his experiences as a Ci* Scout leader. The PTA voted to sponsor Cifb Scouts in Erwin. Janice Byrd, Bolhby Suggs, Joan Reeves, Billy Whittenton, Judy Harper and Rodger Sessoms sgjent Wednesday In Raleigh at the State Fair. Miss Gerry Matthews of Flora Macdonald College spent the weekend here with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Matthews. C SPARKS ROW—This 20-foot crucifix stands in a Highland, Ind„ public park, the object of a bitter religious controversy. Protestant groups say they will seek a court order to remove the crucifix, dedicated recently by the Knights of Columbus. They say it violates the princi ple of separation of church and state. Jr., and George visited Holden's Beach over the weekend. Mrs. Burden Harper and chil dren and Mrs. James Adams visited Mr. Burr age at Veterans Hospital on Saturday night. The Young Peoples League of St. Stephens Episcopal Church had breakfast in the Parrish House on Sunday morning after attending Corporate Commission. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne McLamb of Goldsboro and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Brown Jr. of Smithfield spent the weekend here with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lee. St. Stephens Church will start a school of missions on October 24th through 28th on the subject 'The Application of Great Christian Doctrines in Problems of Life To day” with the Rev. James D. Beck with as preacher. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Woodworth of Oak City spent the weekend here with Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Wood worth, Sr. . The Woman's Home and Foreign Mission Society of the Advent Christian Church held its regular monthly social meeting Thursday evening at 7:30 at the home of Mrs. NoveUe Suggs.
