Smith Solemnize Vows In Ceremony Sunday Miss Daphne Jean Parker became the bride of Mr. Bobby Gerald ; Smith in an all pink formal candle light ceremony at five o'clock Sun- , day afternoon in the Hood Memor ial Christian Church, here. Rev. Jack M. Daniell. pastor of the bride, performed the impressive double ring ritual. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Nathan Bass of Dunn and the late Mr. Bass. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Smi'h of Erwin. The vows were solemnised before a background of greenery and ffoor baskets of pink mums, carnations, and gladioli. The couple stood un derneath a replica of a large wed ding ring, from which hung a clus ter of wedding bells tied with pink ribbon. Traditional cathedral can dles In seven branched candelabra were used. Miniature wedding bells marked the church pews. Mrs Thomas Jackson, organist, and Mrs. Jack ufemmlngway, soioist, presented a program o<f nuptial music prior to the ceremonv. Mrs. Hemminswav's selection’s included Through The Years.” and' I Love You Trulv." She also sang “The Lord’s Prayer 1 ’ as a benediction. Given in marriage by her steo father, Nathan B. Bass, the bride wore a full length gown of import ed hand-olioped scalloped lace over bridal satin, which was designed and mad<* bv her mother. The bouf fant skirt featured a pane/ of tulle in front, with alternating tiers of scalloped lace and tulle. The fitted bodice featured a sweetheart neck line embroidered with seed pearfs and iredescent beads. The long close-fitted sleeves extended in a point over the hands. Her fingertip veil of silk illusion fell from a Jul iet can of lace over satin embroid ered with seed pearls and iredes cents. She carried a white Bible topped with a white purple-throat ed orchid showered wi*h feathered carnations and soattered mums. Miss Carolvn Parker attended her sister as maid of honor. She carried a matching muff sprayed with a cascade of pink roses and carnations, centered with a pink orchid. Bridesmaids were Misses Betsy Ann Tart and Frances Register, both of Raleigh. Thev wore pink velveteen dresses identical to that of the honor attendant, and carried matching muffs sprayed with plr.k roses, carnations and orchids. They also wore matching headpieces. , Honorary bridesmaids were: leap Sorrels. Dorothy Laughing house. Marv Lou Westbrook. Mrs. Aubrey Hardison of Raleigh. Mar garet Oodwin. and Miss Eleanor Howell of Durtwm Thev wore pas tel .shade dresses and carried a single pink carnation. Samuel McLamb of Virginia was bes’ man. Ushers included: Ben Parker of Raleigh. Bruce McLamb of Erwin. Jerrv Butler of Erwin, and Sam Llovd of Erwin. Mrs. Bass chose for her daugh ter’s wedding a mauve dress with matching accessories. Mrs. Smith, mother of the bridegroom wore a black dress with black and white accessories. Both wore orchid cor sages. Immediately following the cere mony the eouole greeted wedding guests in the church vestibule. Later, they lefi for a northern wedding trip. For travel the bride chase ft two-plepe charcoal grev dress with matching accessories. She wore the orchid from her bri dal bououet. Mrs Smith is a graduate of Dunn High School and last year com pleted a one-vear commercial course at Woman's College in Greensboro. Mr. Smith, a graduate of Erwin High School, is now training for assistant manager of MdLellans Store in Raleich. After the wedding trio, the cou ple will reside at 801 West Morgan Street, Raleich. Chit Chat Club Met With Marv Libby Fowfer Mrs. Marv Libby Fowler was hos tess to the Chit Chat bridge club at her home at eight o’clock Friday evening. An attractive fruit arrangement was used on the dining room table for the occasion. During progressions the hos’ess passed assorted sandwiches and Cokes to the players. Members present were: Mrs. W. M. Creel, Mrs. Jack Hemmirwway, Mrs. Vaughn Hutaflf. Mrs. William •Dirt, and Mrs Bobby Strickland. Mrs. Henry Hutaff was a guest for the evening. Mrs. Vaughn frutaff won chib high honors and received earrings, while Mrs. Strickland won low prize and received a magnetic bridge score pad.
