Herman Greens Entertained At Bridge
Play And Dinner Party Here Friday

Mrs. Curtis Ennis and Mrs. Alsey
Johnson were guests of the club.
During the afternoon of bridge.
Mrs. Lewis Godwin received a brass
letter holder for capturing club
high score. Guest high, a fiower
container, went to Mrs. Ennis. Mrs.
Alsey Johnson was the recipient of
•homemade cucumber pickles for
winning consolation.
Club members playing were: Mrs.
Godwin. Mrs. Biliy Pope. Mrs. J
\ Stephenson. Mrs. Vic Anderson.
Mrs. John Ciccone, and Mrs. Em
mett Aldredge.
After the bridge play. Mr. and
Mrs. Green entertained the ladies
and their husbands at a dinner
party at seven o'clock. Miss Nancy
Sugg. November 26th bride-elect,
was also a special guest. She was
presented a lovely corsage of white
carna ions.
The dining room of the Gr>-en
home was beautifully appointed for
the party. Brass cande’abras hold
ing goid candles and a crystal eper
nette filled with red berries and i
gold chrysanthemums center the I
table. On the buffet gold candles in'
shver candelabra were also used.
Rev. Tucker Was Guest Speaker
At Club Meeting In i Dunn Friday

N. Stephenson entertained at a j
one o’clock luncheon Friday for
members of the Olde Town Arts
Club, The guest speaker for the
afternoon was the Rev. Leslie
Tucker, pastor of the First Pre-by
terian Church in Dunn.
The living room and the hall of
the Woman's Club were attrac
tively decorated with dried bou
quets, autumn leaves, and chrysan
themums. p
In the dining room, the tabig
centerpiece was a large cornucopia
filled with fruit. Miniature tur
keys. fall leaves, and sprays of
wheat completed the Thanksgiving
decor.
Honored
Miss Barefoot
Mt« Betty Jean Barefoot, No -
vember bride-elect, was honored at
a crystal shower Saturday night,
with Miss Betsy Sills and Mrs. John
David Lee as co-hostesses. The
shower was give at the Sills home
at eight o’clock.
The pink and green color scheme
was carried out throughout the
home for the bridal occasion. A
pink carnation arrangement flank
ed by pink candles and ivy decor
ated the piano. The mantle was
lovely with pink candles in cande
labra and also an arrangement of
wine baby mums. Ivy and fall
flowers decorated the coffee table.
Appropriate games were played
during the evening with Miss Shir
ley Hinson and Mrs. John David
Lee as winners.
After the honoree opened many
lovely gifts, the hostesses served de
licious refreshments, which also
carried out the pink and green mo
tif. The refreshments consisted of
punch, chicken salad sandwiches,
open face sandwiches, lady fingers,
hors d’oevre, homemade sea foam
candy, and toasted pecans.
Miss Barefoot received a corsage
of pink carnations from the host
esses upon her arrival.

Mrs. Curtis Ennis assisted Mrs.
Green in serving a delectable
three-course turkey dinner. The j
menu consisted of tomato juice
cocktail, hors d'oeuvre, cranberry
salad, sliced turkey, dressing and
gravy, green beans, creamed sweet
potatoes, mincemeat tarts with
wnipped cream and coffee.
Following the dinner, table prizes
were awarded to Mr. and Mrs Vic
Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Pope
received a wrought iron hurricane
lamp for their new home as a re
membrance from the hostess. Miss
Sugg was also remembered with
brass car.die holders.
Enjoying the affair were: Mr.
and Mrs. Green. Miss Nancye Sugg,
Dr. and Mrs. A. B. Sugg, Mr. and
Mrs. Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Pope.

Mrs. Stephenson introduced the
Rev. Tucker, who presented a very
interesting talk on Abraham Lin
coln. Rev. Tucker declared thai
Lincoln was his favorite historical
character, and his talk brought out
the attributes that made his life
"so outstanding.
Following Rev. Tucker’s talk,
Mrs. Billy Pope, club president,
presided over the business meeting.
The secretary's report, was given
by Mrs. Herman Lynch, and the
treasurerV report by Mrs. Thurman
Enr.is.
Guests for the meeting were the
Rev. Tucker and Mrs. Ellis Bar
bour. Members attending included
Mrs. Howard M. Lee. Mrs Thur

The beautiful rhree-tlered wed
ding cake, which was decorated in
pink and white and topped with a
miniature bride and groom and
wedding bell was served by Mrs.
Henry Shell after the couple had
cut the traditional first slice. Mrs.
D. A. Smith, mother of the bride
groom, served fruit punch. Mints
and nuts were also served.

birthday dinner and family reun
ion given Sunday at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Adams. Cele
brating were Mr. Adams and his
sister. Mrs. Junius Barefoot.

union were he descendants of the
iate Mr. and Mrs. John Pink
Adams.

Mrs. John Adams attending with
