Mr. and Mrs. Matthews Celebrate Their Tenth Wedding Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Billy Ray Mat thews of Lillington celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary with an informal reception given Saturday might, Feb. 2 at the bo rne flf Mrs. Matthews' parents. Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Byrd of Bunnle vel. \ 1 Mrs. Matthews is the former Miss Mary Lou Byrd. They are the parents of a five-year-old daugh ter, Debbie, and a young son of a few months, Daniel Ray Matthews. Caramel Church Dunn, North Carolina. SUNDAY SCHOOL ORGANIZED The Church Of God Missions on E. Broad Street organized a Sun day School Sunday, February 3 under the leadership of Rev. Lewis Turnage. 71 were present for the first meeting. Sunday School "will be held regularly every Sunday af ternoon at 2:30 in the newly or ganized mission The public is ir - . vited to attend. REVIVAL MEETING Revival will begin at the newly organized mission of The Church Of God. on E. Broad Street, Satur day. February 8th at 7:30 p.m. and will continue for a week. Re-y. B. G. Bvrd of Coats will conduct the revival. The public is invited to attend. t Potted pink begonias were used m the den and living room. The re freshment table was arranged in the dining room. A floral center piece of pink gladioli and white snapdragons was bordered with pink candles in silver holders. On the buffet, the pink arid white* the me was reserved with white can dles circled at the base with pink flowers. A white cut work cloth covered the table. Fruit punch in a pink color was served with chicken salad sand wiches, assorted ribbon sandwich es, ham biscuits, and hors d’oeuv rer. Mrs. Paul McDonald served punch and center of interest on the table was a decorated white wed ding cake, baked by Mrs. Norman Gossett for the occasion. The hon ored couple cut the first slice with a silver server decorated with pink flowers. The two tiered cake was then cut-and served to the guests. The fifteen couples who called to extend anniversary congratula tions were greeted by Mi', and Mrs. Matthews. Anniversary gifts were opened by the honored couple dur ing the evening. C. 3 Couple Honored With Party At Chapel Hill Miss Lynette Tew and Ralph Kennedy were entertained, by Dr. and Mrs. Edward Kennedy at their home at'71 Dogwood Aires. Chapel Hill on Saturday evening. Miss Tew will marry Mr. Kennedy on Feb ruary 9, 1957. ^. Miss Tew was presented a corsage of white carnations on her arrival. The home was beautifully dec orated for the occasion in a color yheme of green and white. A min iature bride and groom and white tapers centered the table where re freshments of coffee, bridal cakes and nuts were served. Baptists Omanize New Circle On Monday Niaht The Virginia Hiehfill Circle held its first meeting Monday night at 7:30 p. m. in the -home of Miss Fannie Sue Turnage. Mrs. Charles Skinner, President of the W.M U. of the church had charge of the program. She ex plained in detail the .purpose and function of a circle and the duties of each officer. Mrs. Kathrvn Oakley is Chair man of the Circle and the other officers are as follows: Co-Chalr hmn, Miss Fannie Sue Turnage; Secretary and Treasurer. Butt Circle No. 1 of Hood Memorial Christian Church held its monthly meeting Monday afternoon at 3:30 at the home of Mrs. S. N. Butt. Mrs. Butt assistant circle leader presided in theabsence of Mrs. Williford, circle leader. Mrs. D. Rerna Turn a ye gave the devotional taken from Isiah; 2: 5. verse and John 1:1-7 verse after •which she led in prayer. Mrs. Turnage gave pertinent facts concerning being a true Christian, she pointed, out that so many of us are stumbling around in darkness when we should be letting cur light shine out. We should, keep in step by using the keys that God gives us through the Bible, the keys of, forgiveness, faith and love. Mrs. Butt conducted a short bus iness session when the minutes we re read and approved. The meeting «nas adjourned' by repeating the National Benediction in unison.
