John H. Kalte of High Point, sales representative for the Cin cinnati firm which manufactures the calendars, was the guest spea ker. Kalte, introduced by Miss Betsy Boss, finance chairman, ex plained that the calendar offers local advertisers guaranteed lead ers because they have purchased the calendar, and because it will be used every day. Listings of anniversaries, birthdays, and club and town events will be made ior a small fee. The calendar will fea ture a photograph of a local scene. Material used will be as the club requests. Three-fourths of all mo ney realized remains with the club for local community improvement projects. It is hoped that the calendar will meet the need for a civic calendar and also serve as a guide to new comers. A special window display, feat uring dolls dressed to symbolize the different businesses and pro fessions found in the local club, will go on view during Business Women's Week at The Fabric Shop. Mrs. Lee Womack will serve as chairman of the display committee. Miss Lela Moore Hall, club pre sident, presided, and Mrs. Franc es Murray served as secretary. At the social hour coffee and dough nuts were served by Miss Hall and Mrs. Prentiss Sloan, hostesses Marigolds decorated the assembly room. Lillmgton OES Sends Delegates To State Events The Lillington Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star was represented at the Ninth District School of Instruction held on Sat urday in Fairmont with the local chapter in' that town as host. Going from Lillington were Mrs. Lucille Morgan Byrd, worthy ma tron, and Bob Sessoms, worthy patron of the Lillington chapter and also Mrs. John Cannon, Mrs Marjorie Taylor, Mrs. Frances Murray and Mrs. Bob Sessoms. Mrs. Murray enacted the role 01 “Ruth” in the model school of instruction, designed to show chapters the best form in chapter ceremonies. Towns, other than Lillington with chapters in the ninth dis trict include: Red Springs, Dunn St. Pauls, Lumberton, Fayetteville Raeford, Hope Mills, Erwin, Laur inburg, Fairmont, Maxton, and Proctorville. Mrs. Martha Myers Davis of Lumberton, district de puty grand matron, and Coit L. Norwood of Red Springs, district deputy grand patron, were the in structors. The head of the hostess chapter was Mrs. Virginia Best. Lillington chapter also sent del egates to Erwin on Friday night for the official visit of the worthy grand matron and patron of North Carolina. Mrs. Lucille Byrd at tended the dinner honoring the State disnitaries, Mrs. Lila Rop er Duke of Washington, the wor thy grand patron. The commission also approved a supplemental agreement, submit ted at the same time, to amend the lease by the firm to the Southern Coach Co. The agreement deletes the portion of a route leased by Carolina Coach between Fuquay Varina and Dunn, via Lillington. the operating rights from Carolina Coach and had been operating pas senger service along US 421 from one mile northeast of Lillington through Erwin to Dunn.
