Avenue was lovely in its array of
Yuletide decorations. On the man

yams, stuifed celery congealed

Holiday Party
In Lillington
The Lillington Business and Pro
fessional Women's Club converted
their regular December meeting
on Tuesday, Dec. 17 into the
club's annual Christmas dinner
party.
The club was entertained by
Misses Cornelia and Louise Mc
Lauehlin at their home which was
decorated with holly, sprays of
pine, and red candles in brass hol
ders. A lighted tree greeted
guests on the front porch.
A baked ham meal, prepared by
the club members, was served buf
fet style. The table, set up in the
dining room, was covered with a
white outwork cloth, ‘and centered
with a bowl of Mamie Eisenhower
red and pink carnations mixed
with sprays of holly. Miss Lela
Moore Hall, club president, slic
ed the ham and club members
were seated at smaller tables

ly and other evergreen sprigs.
Mrs. William Maus and Mrs. Neil
McLauchlin were guests of the
club.
At the business session, mem
bers voted to donate ten dollars
to help provide holiday cheer for
the county's foster children. There
also was a gift exchange among
members.
CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES:
There will be a traditional Christ
mas eve service, beginning at 11

p. m. at the St. Stephens Episcopal
church in Erwin. There will be
a celebration of Holy Commun
ion and sermon, on Christmas day
beginning at "0 o'clock. There will
be a second service for those who
were unable to attend Christmas
eve.
