ERWIN NEWS St. Stephens Fellowship Club Honored Wives The Mens Fellowship club of Saint Stephens Episcopal church entertained their wifes at an an nual Christmas party at the Parish house on Friday evening and en joyed a delicious Barbecue Chick en dinner served by “H” and “S” Restuarant of Dunn. Mr. Ray D. Caldwell, club pre sident. was in charge of the pro gram. Mrs. W. W. Stanfield won the door prize. Mrs. Waymon Byrd, Mrs. J. K. Bruton and E. H. Bost received prizes for various games. Christmas carols were sung fol lowed by an exchange of gifts that had been placed underneath the big Christmas tree. Mong those enjoyed the party were, Mrs. A. H. Harper, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Harper, Mrs. James Adams. Dr. and Mrs. W. E. Adair, Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Adams, who has spent the past 2 years in Heidelberg, Germany, arrived in the state bv plane on Tuesday, and will spend the Christmas holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Tony Harper. RETURNED FROM HOSPITAL Robert Parker has returned home after having undergone a knee operation at Duke. YULE BONUS CHICAGO (UP)—R. A. Brugge meyer of Santa Clara, Calif., got a Christmas bonus in his purchase of a Weimaranre dog from John Templeton of Superior, Wis. The dog gave birth to six puppies at the Railway Express Agency of fice here Sunday after arriving by train from Superior. LIILINGTON NEWS HERE FROM TEXAS Mrs. John H. Moore and young daughter, Ann McArthur Moore, of Lubbock. Texas are here for a holiday vislt'with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Caviness, Sr. Mrs. Moore is the former Miss Veve Caviness. Mr. Caviness, who has been at the State Sanatorium for several weeks of check-up, is at his home for the holidays. FROM WASHINGTON Mrs. H. H. de Court and two children of Washington, D. C. are spending the Christmas here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Loving. LUMBERTON VISITORS Miss Elizabeth Shaw and Mrs. Ralph Shaw of Lumberton visited friends here Sunday and will re turn for the day on Friday after Christmas. They are former re sidents of Lillington. FROM MARTINSVILL Mr. and Mrs. Joe McFaddin of Martinsville will be here Christ mas Eve for a one day stay with her mother, Mrs. Neil McLauchlin. They plan to return to Lillington on the weekend SUNDAY GUESTS Mr. and Mrs. Glennie Newton and daughter, Ann of Charlotte, visited Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Newton on Sunday. The Charlotte resid ents formerly lived in Lillington. Other guests at the Newton home were Mr. and Ben O’Brien. Mrs. O’Brien is the former Miss Kate Newton. On Christmas Day the New’tons expect Mr. and Mrs. Keyl Harrington and Janet and Kyle Kelly Harrington to spend the day with them and Mrs. Lizzie Kelly. HOME FROM NAVY Sidney Jordan, who is in the U. S Navy, is spending a month’s leave here with his family. FROM UN'C C. H. Brock, who is attending graduate school at the University of North Carolina, Frank Far rell. Howard Hood, Howard Pope, Leo Kelly Jr., and Miss Edith Ann Caviness and Miss Keeter Baggett, students at the Chapel Hill school, are here for the Christmas holidays at their re spective nomes. FROM HOSPITAL Mrs. Frank Lewis has returned home from Cape Fear Valley Hos pital in Fayetteville. She came to Lillington on Wednesday. JAYCEE DANCE Lillington Jaycees and their la dies danced Saturday night. Dec. 21, to the music of a combo or chestra when the civic club held its first annual Christmas party. The informal gathering was stag ed in a quoinset hut on Front St.,' opposite Turlington building sup ply firm. There was informal en tertainment. refreshments and fa vor's. TO CHARLOTTE Mrs. W. P. Byrd and her daugh ter, Miss Lois Byrd plan to spend Dec. 24-26 in Charlotte as guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. Walter Byrd and family. Miss Emma Tomlin son of “Tanglewood," near Smith field will accompany them, and Miss Evelyn Byrd of Danville, Va. will meet them there. Miss Eve lyn Byrd will return to Lillington for Friday, Dec. 27. TO VISIT SON Mrs. A. M. Shaw and her dau ghters, Misses Adelaide and Mar garet Snaw, will make a brief vis it the day after Christmas to Char lotte to see An. and Mrs. John Allen Shaw and their two daugh ters. The Lillington family is going especially to see for the first time young Lydia Carol Shaw, who was born on Thanksgiving week. OFF DUTY CLUB Mrs. Harry Shaw entertained the Off Duty Bridge Club at the club's annual Christmas meeiing on Wednesday night, Dee. 18. The Shaw home was decorated with a lighted Christmas tree and fol lowing the bridge games, members exchanged gifts. Cranberry punch was served during the games and at the con clusion lime ice cream and snow' ball cakes. Guests other than club members included Mrs. Hooper Bethune and Miss Ella Turner At kins.
