of God with a Christmas Party at
her home on Saturday afternoon.
A Christmas *tree _ and other
beautiful decorations were used in
the living room.
Mrs. Matthews read a Christ
mas story and led a special pray
er.
Bible Quizs, contest and games
were played and prizes awarded
the winners. Gifts were exchanged
and the hostess served holiday

ses to the Annual Christmas party
of the Women’s society of Christ
ian service, of the Erwin Metho
dist church, on Friday evening.
The living and, dining rooms
and den of the Ennis home were
thrown en suite for the party. A
beautiful Christmas tree decorated
the living room and holly and red
Candles were used elsewhere. The
dining table was covered with a
white lace cloth with a trtifiiature
Christmas tree as the centerpiece,

place at the auxiliary tables that
were set up In the different
rooms.
Mrs. Mike Crawrord poured cof
fee and Mrs. Frank Boyd and Su
san Ennis assisted the hostesses
in serving a delicious buffet din
ner consisting of chicken-salad on
Lettuce, cheese biscuits, toasted
nuts, ribbon sandwiches, cranberry
sauce, decorated cake squares and
coffee. Following the dinner Christ
mas gifts were exchanged. Those

The Fidelis class of the* Erwin '
First Baptist Church enjoyed a
Christmas party at the church on ,
Saturday evening.
A big Christmas tree decorated
the recreation room. The table
was covered with a white cloth and
held a sleigh filled with flowers
with red candles on either side as
a center arrangement.
Mrs. William Rochester opened
the meeting with the Christmas
story from Luke. Christmas carols
were sung and gifts exchanged.
Each oficer received a gift and
the class teacher. Mrs. Stella Wood
worth, was remembered with a 5
branched silver Candlebra from
the class. The hostesses, Mrs. An
na Norris, Mrs. Paul Lee, And
Mrs. Festus MeLamb served fruit
Cake with whipped cream topped
with a cherry and coffee to the

per consisting of baked ham and

dishes was enjoyed.

each other and gifts were ex
changed. A wonderful evening of

Memhers of the Erwin fire de
partment entertained their fami
lies at an annual Christmas party
on Saturday evening at the recrea
tion center in Erwin.
A delicious barbecue chicken
and pork dinner with potato salad,
slaw, hush puppies and coffee,
prepared by Johnson’s barbecue
of Smithfield was served buffet
style by the firemen.
Mr. James Glover, asst, fire
chief, presented chief R. M. New
a gift of 2 cartons of cigarettes
and a gold baodge in behalf of the
members and in turn Mr. New
gave cigars and gifts to all the
firemen. All the children received
baogs of fruit from underneath the
big Christmas tree. Colored pic
tures were made by James Glover
during the party.

Peede Chosen Head
Of Medical Society
Dr. A. W. Peede of Lillington has
been elected to succeed Dunn’s Dr.
Bill Lilly as the president of the
Harnett County Medical Society.
This highly active association
of Harnett doctors recently held
their annual Christmas party in the
new club-house a Chicora Country
Club. )
As president. Dr. Peede will be
spearheading activities of the
group during the coming year.
Their monthly meetings include
sober discussion and appraisal by
the doctors of many matters af
fecting their profession and people
of the county.
Dr. Bruce B. Blackman of Buie’s
Creek has been chosen as the de
legate to the North Carolina Med
ical Association and will attend the
sate convention next May.
The vice-president wht> will
serve with Dr. Peede is Dr. Clar
ence E Roberts of Dunn. He suc
ceeds. Dr. Gordon Tbwnsend.
Re-elected to his second term as
secretary-treasurer was Dr. Char
les Byrd of Dunn.
