(Record Photos byTed Crail.) * Erwin Society Mrs. Matthews Entertained * Class At Party Mrs. Willie Matthews entertain ed her Sunday school class No. 5 of intermediate gills of the Church of God with a Christmas Party at her home on Saturday afternoon. A Christmas *tree _ and other beautiful decorations were used in the living room. Mrs. Matthews read a Christ mas story and led a special pray er. Bible Quizs, contest and games were played and prizes awarded the winners. Gifts were exchanged and the hostess served holiday refreshments to the following, Ger ryln Tedder, Wanda Tedder, Pat ricia Byrd, Doris Phillips, Judy Coats. Methodist Women Had Xmas Party Friday Evening Mrs. Gordon Ennis was hostes ses to the Annual Christmas party of the Women’s society of Christ ian service, of the Erwin Metho dist church, on Friday evening. The living and, dining rooms and den of the Ennis home were thrown en suite for the party. A beautiful Christmas tree decorated the living room and holly and red Candles were used elsewhere. The dining table was covered with a white lace cloth with a trtifiiature Christmas tree as the centerpiece, Favors of red net filled with Christ mas candy marked each person s place at the auxiliary tables that were set up In the different rooms. Mrs. Mike Crawrord poured cof fee and Mrs. Frank Boyd and Su san Ennis assisted the hostesses in serving a delicious buffet din ner consisting of chicken-salad on Lettuce, cheese biscuits, toasted nuts, ribbon sandwiches, cranberry sauce, decorated cake squares and coffee. Today & Tuesday Fidelis Class Had Xmas Party Saturday Evening The Fidelis class of the* Erwin ' First Baptist Church enjoyed a Christmas party at the church on , Saturday evening. A big Christmas tree decorated the recreation room. The table was covered with a white cloth and held a sleigh filled with flowers with red candles on either side as a center arrangement. Mrs. William Rochester opened the meeting with the Christmas story from Luke. Christmas carols were sung and gifts exchanged. Each oficer received a gift and the class teacher. Recorded music and dancing was enjoyed and refreshments consist ing of assorted sandwiches, Chirst mas cookies, cake and candy were served to Betty Dowd and Robert Dennis, Connie Stewart and Larry Moss, Barbara McCaskill and Bud dy Glover. Mission Society Entertained Thurs. By Mrs. Beasley The Womans home and foreign mission society of the Advent Chris tian church entertained, their husbands and children at an an ual Christmas party at the home of Mrs. #Archie Beasley on Thurs day evening. A beautiful Christmas tree and decoration were used. The table was covered with a White cloth with a center arrangement of red roses. A delicious cover dish sup per consisting of baked ham and ! chicken stew and a variety of other dishes was enjoyed. A delicious barbecue chicken and pork dinner with potato salad, slaw, hush puppies and coffee, prepared by Johnson’s barbecue of Smithfield was served buffet style by the firemen. Mr. James Glover, asst, fire chief, presented chief R. M. New a gift of 2 cartons of cigarettes and a gold baodge in behalf of the members and in turn Mr. New gave cigars and gifts to all the firemen.
