slave cabin was moved to the
battlefield as the outgrowth of
Miss Sue Smith’s work and ef
forts and the assistance of the
Board of Trustees of the Chicora
Chapter 801, United Daughters
of the Confederacy composed of
Miss Sbiith, Mrs. Arthur F.
Pope, mid Mrs. Nathan M. John
son, ST. The cabin was removed
from Lebanon the Smith home
on the Battlefield, and presently
occupied by a. descendant: Eu
gene Smith and hit family a gift
from MV. and Mks. Smith, de
sirous of making a special histor
ical contribution to the War Be
tween the States Centennial

Archives ad History cooperated
fully With this project, assisting
in the restoration by giving spec
