I most vital questions. Young peo ple have not and are not finding In the avenge church the faith and courage they so strongly de sire and need to go out Into a selfish confused world to cope with the batties of Ufel Young people of today went honesty, “especially from the church” through the years we hav® permitted our children to enter Sunday School to be taught by un prepared teachers who hurriedly glance over their lessons during opening assembly. This goes on until their pupils become adults and find themsel ves suddenly thrust out Into the world to make thelf own way* And, about the only thing the church has taught them was something about a little Jesus boy riding a donkey thru the city of Jerusalem, they have felt that Jesus was some femine character that one would be ashamed to acknowledge or follow, or only • man of sorrows acquainted with, grief. i t,*| Jesus was not a sissy, nor a square. He was not meek and mild as some have him pictured. Jesus called people hypercrits and blind guides to their faces, this man had a steel tempered will power and acted according to his convic tions without fear or safety to Ms morning and spent many nlnnplrsi nights in prayer followed by a busy day, plus lpng Journeys without the aid of motor cars. They called him an and a nretander He denounced their sins «gd Jgg he had gret compassion for them. This man could hear their crys for bread, healing and freedom. The church has not been honest with young people concerning sex. The church has always play ed hush-hush about sex, at least during my ministry. Yet when a young persons does make a mis take it is usually the church that puts its foot on them to push them a little further down when it is the fault of the church in the lint place. How long has It been since the teacher in Sunday School has tried to help his pupils uniter stand something about sex? When has your pastor preached a ser mon on sex? What have you as a parent taught1 them about sex? Or bad you rather some hoodlum in a back alley teach them out of Us proper setting about one of the most important *hi»»g» in their lives than for it to be taught from ltrs proper source the church. When churches become honest with their young people concern ing these vital elements of Christ and sex in their lives, they will not be found parked at undesirable places d^cussing things to fill the emptyness and boredom in their lives that the church ought to be filling. X ask you, does the Bible, God’s l Welcome TO DUNN AND TQ :^ WILBOURNE'S A Friendly Welcome Always Awaits word, ploy hush-hush with thaw very vital clement* of lifer — Then why ahould the church? XmmentA It’s a touchdown! this excla mation was heard last Friday night three times as Dunn won over Oxford,' 20-13. It was a real ly great garnet We give our praise to all the lootMIt players, espee ially Eddie Tafler and Barry D«« ley. Eddie scored two touchdowns and Barry the other one. Yea dr. they are really something to be prpud of! Letf keep this winning ability, boys, and go on to be the State AAA championsl "We’re the Champs!’’ then,as always another '‘blue" Monday. School really seems to be getting underway now as we seem to have tests just about every day — two or three at a time! * RANDOM NOTES: Last Satur day night Gloria Barnes honored the football players and cheer leaders with a little get-together. The food was delicious and every one enjoyed it Immensely. Last night the home of Joanne Ruaxk was the scene of a social far the football players. GOSSIP: Judy Tart, whose class ring Is that your’e sporting now? Could it be George Blalock’s? .. . .' Kenneth Monels and Debbie Mixon have been seen together a lot lately. It’s really sharp! I love thoee Buick Wildcats! PEP RALLY — Anyone for * truck rkte That's • right — the pep rally Thursday night conslst e dof a truck ride around town, followed by cheering ht the A At P parking lot. There was a big turn out an deveryone seemed to have a real good time. Those truck rid es always draw a big erowd! MAYOR BLALOCK SPEAKS — This afternoon in assembly Mayor Blalock gave a talk on Athletics. It proved to be a hery interesting speech and we hope it boosted the school spirit of the students. We think maybe it will lead to having a great turnout at the ballgam etonight. CHOW FOR CHEERLEADERS — The home of Paulette Drew is to be the scene of a supper In ho nor o fthe Midway cheerleaders tonight. The cheerleaders from both teams will enjoy fried chick en, all the trimmings, cake for dessert, and Cokes, These suppers are held in order to make the cheerleaders better acquainted with each other. For years these simpers have been very satisfac tory in attaining their purpose. Thought for the week: To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart DON’T MISS IT — We had S good crowd at the baiigame Fri day night in Oxford, so we should have even greater support tonight e.t our second home game.
