The double-ring rites were
performed by the Rev. Cary
Watkins before spiral and tree
candelabras and baskets of chry
santhemums and palms.
Musicians were Miss Bess
Watkins of Route 3, pianist,
and Mrs. Charles Lee of Route
1, Erwin, soloist.
Given in marriage by her fa
ther, the bride wore a gown of
white bridal satin with a bat
teau neckline and long pointed
sleeves. The waistHne, dipping
into a V in th« back, featured
a row of tiny covered buttons.
Motifs of beaded alencon lace
were appliqued on the bouffant
skirt which extended into a
chapel train. The flat front
rfdrt had a bow at the waistline
and featured back fullness. The
gcrwn was designed and made
by her mother. Her veil fell
from a crown of seed pearls and
she carried an orchid on a white
Bible.
ATTENDANTS
The bride’s attendant was
Mrs. Jack Matthews of Sanford,
who wore a yellow organza over
taffeta dress with batteau neck
line, short sleeves and fitted
bodice. A yellow veil was at
tached to a circular band of
velvet ribbon and she carried a
cascade of bronze fugi chrysan
themums.
Dressed in yellow organza de
signed similar to the honor at
tendant’s was the flower girl,
Debbie Norris of Dunn.
Jack Matthews of Sanford was
the best man and ushers were

Jr., Jack Matthews and R. D.
Turner, all of Dunn. The Junior
usher was Donald Hawley of
Dunn.
The bride's mother wore a
beige lace dress with matching
Jacket and brown accessories,
Mrs. £ayles was atflred in navi |
Blue and mellon and navy accesf
sories. Both mothers wore white
carnation corsages.
Pot travel the blrde wore a
mellon suit with white acces
sories and the orchid from her
bouquet.
CAKE CUTTING
After rehersal on Friday night,
Mr. and Mrs. Parker entertained
at a cake cutting at the Union
Hall in Erwin.
The refreshment table was de
corated in a color scheme of
green and white. The silver can
delabras with burning tapers
flanked an arrangement of white
carnations and green fem.
Mrs. Parker served the three
tiered wedding cake of all white
and Mrs. Bayles poured the
punch. Nuts and mints were al
so served.
Mrs. Travis Norris and Mrs.
Alenzo Hawley, aunts of the
bride, assisted with the serving
of the refreshments to about
thirty-five guests .
The guests were greeted by
Mrs. Norris and goodbyes were
said to Mrs. Hawley.

Arts Club Meets
For Breakfast
A breakfast meeting of mem
bers of the Old Town Arts Club
was held Friday morning at the
6 Woman’s Club with Mrs. J. N.
Stephenson and Mrs. Qraydon
Bryan as hostesses.
For the program, Mrs. Step
hensold told of hand work done by
Mrs. Bryan. Among items on
display were a cross stitch bed
spread, samplers and , a clock.
Mrs. Ellis Barbour conducted
the business session and reports
were given by Mrs. Curtis Ennis
and Mrs. Howard M. Lee. The
president read committee as
signments and the group made
plans for the year.
At the meeting were Mrs. En
nis, Mrs. Thurman Ennis, Mrs,
Nathan Cannady, Mrs. John Cic
cone, Mrs. Willie Moff, Mrs.

James Snipes, a local Insur
ance man, spoke to the Cosmo
politan Book Club Thursday on
life insurance. Mrs. Snipes, one
of the hostesses, was in charge
of the program. Mrs. Willard
Mixon was co-hostess for the
meeting held at the Woman’s
Club.

ed.
Spider lilies, yellow mums and
smilax decorated the living room
And dogwood was used in the en
trance hall.
